i have improved suppression, improved corruption and improved life tap maxed out. I am starting to pump points into improve drain life because master channeler.
I am level 22 but I struggled in my dungeon groups to keep up dps wise.
I tried haunt+demonic embrace, corruption, curse of agony, then wand/shadow bolt depending on mana.
I have struggled to find a good rotation that helps me.
Ditch the dot spec. Go with incinerate/chaos bolt spam and aoe heavy rotation when 3 plus mobs.
Is dot spec just too high a skill cap or is destro lock just better?
Dots take a long time to tick and things don’t live very long. They don’t crit either.
Fire spec is just better. Master channeler is still good though, especially on movement heavy fights or where mobs aren’t stationary in lake of fire.
In single target: precast incinerate for buff>curse of recklessness>RoF (if Lake of Fire)>chaos bolt>drain life (if Master channeler)>incinerate spam
For AoE: incinerate for buff>RoF
Not sure if corruption with Improved Corruption is a DPS gain or not but I use it during movement and so that I can get to Improved Life Tap.
Fire has more dmg multipliers and Bolt goes brrrr.
With that said. You could try Shadowbolt volley with Everylasting Affliction. You get to keep Master channeler since it refreshes corruption. You spam corruption then Shadowbolt volley to keep dots up on everything. So this way you don’t have to reapply dots and can cast on multiple targets.
It’s hard to get rid of Master channeler. Also helps with life tapping.
If you wanna play dot spec in PvE likely have to use the above runes to do good damage.
Aff lock DPS is a ramp up dps. It only shines during large hp boss fights.
Aff is more a solo/farming spec. Because it’s more to keep you alive than to be tip of charts in 5 mans.
However. If you are quick tabber. And your group is downing trash fast. Your DPS will show as more than say single target dpsers.
The problem with looking at DPS vs overall damage down. DPS means per sec. Most dots are per 3 sec. Most other DPS are going to do more per sec damage than you. Forever.
Overall damage as a tabber that just dots everything. Will be higher than a lot of DPSers. But the overall DPS meter will still show it as a lower DPS.
Go destro and use lake of fire, Incinerate and chaos bolt rune its awesome. Cast 1 sec of Rain of Fire on something and you have a 40% damage buff on top of your incinerates 25% damage buff its nuts
Lock sucks in dungeons rn. It’s not just you.
Affliction will be better in raids where bosses live longer.
Use succubus, full destro spec
Incinerate, chaos bolt, demonic tactics
Hit incinerate a million times, chaos bolt on cd. Multi dot immolate for multi mobs. Agony while moving. Top meters
