How do I do meaningful AoE damage in high keys as Elemental?

As anyone who’s done level 10 and higher keystones knows it is essentially mandatory for tanks to kite very heavily. The question I’m searching for an answer to is how do I do relevant damage as an Elemental Shaman in AoE packs. It seems that even with proper usage of slows and proper EQ placement I can only guarantee two or three ticks of each Earthquake to hit. Should I just be using ES on a priority target? I was thinking about making a build where I stack as much mastery as possible for CL spam. I’m thinking that I may be missing something very obvious that more experienced players might have the answer too. Thanks for any advice.

Do you have the eq legendary? It makes each eq tick do 800-1200 dmg.

This week sucks a little more than usual for specs like Ele. Tanks are too scared (rightfully so) with necrotic and often kite a lot more. If you are already using your stun and slow totem just keep trying your best.

At least for this week I’ve been running windspeakers for some better ST on bosses since I tend to have other DPS specs still running more AoE centric builds. Has worked well enough for me at least this week as usually killing bosses/some mobs faster really helped with necrotic.

Next week you should be in a better spot with Echoes of Sundering and tanks not kiting as much.

Aside from my experience doing keys this week, it’s important to let your tank know if you have more ground effects. I know Hunters do godly amounts of DPS with wild spirits, but if the Tank moves erratically it can mess with hunters, same can go for Ele shamans. Just be honest with your tank, if the tank takes offense you are not the bad guy for asking.

What ever you do, do NOT stack mastery. Trust me I had about 40% at one point and it did not do anything. If you are doing m+ you want crit/vers. Try storm/pime ele if tank is kiting a lot.

I have been playing around with some build but have yet to try it out higher keys. I have been using echo shock with icefury along with windspeakers. If there is a big pull ill use icefury at start for quick mael, tag main mobs with FS/prim wave, cast LB followed by a frost shock. Usually have 60 mael by then so ill cast echo shock followed by a earthquake. Chain lightning or LB followed by another frost shock is usually enough to spend again so ill either cast eathshock or quake depending on the situation.

Usually does not work on smaller pulls or mobs that die fast as it requires some build up.
