I’m a mistweaver main, and I play windwalker as an offspec. I’ve recently starting leveling a brewmaster alt to test the waters on that, but there’s a basic aspect that I don’t think that I’m getting: how to maintain ironskin brew.
This is really two questions, the first of which is pretty basic: in dungeons, how should I go about maintaining ironskin brew? Should I be hitting the button every 6ish seconds? Should I queue up 2-3 charges off the bat? I’m just not sure how I’m supposed to be doing it.
The second question is broader: how are you guys keeping track of this short-term buff that needs to be manually and constantly applied on top of everything else? Maybe it’s because I’m not used to it, but maintaining it seems to take up a lot of my attention (compared to, say, healing on mistweaver where I feel like I’m aware of everything happening in the group and can easily track everything for my character).
Granted, my brewmaster is lvl 20 or so, but I’m trying to decide if this is something that I should actually pursue or if I should just stick with MW/WW.
I tend to wait until there’s only a second or two left on my Ironskin Brew (ISB) before I refresh it. Make sure it’s running nearly 100% of the time I’m taking damage. Keep in mind, however, that until you are high level the class is going to play very differently.
WeakAuras 2 addon for me. My characters have two groups, buttons and bars. Buttons are just the select icons on my hotbar more neatly arranged on screen. I have Keg Smash, Blackout Strike, Rushing Jade Wind, Breath of Fire, and Ironskin Brew (number of charges).
Under that I have my bars which look like the progress bars used in DBM or BigWigs. One is a color changing bar from green to red which has text for my current Stagger %. Second is the timer I have for Ironskin Brew. It’s very easy to see and adjust.
