I thought 649 was the max this week for the Sirens Isle ring? how are folks getting 652 already?
I heard there was a bug people exploited where faction changing a character reset the weekly and allowed them to collect the upgrade twice.

Yep, some people got an upgrade item from a drop while “filling the bar” for the weekly on Siren Isle and got a second upgrade item by doing the quest Juicing Up and Storming Out, so they got their rings to 652.
That doesn’t seem to have been intended and was hotfixed by the time I did my Siren Isle stuff… I did get a raw citrine upgrade from a drop before I got the Jucing Up quest, but when I completed the Juicing Up quest it only gave me iron, not a second raw citrine (so my ring is 649 which seems to be the intended cap).
Not sure if they will reduce the ring back to 649 for those that took advantage of this (probably not), but that’s how some are at 652 this week. See this poster that got their ring to 652…
Theh paid cash to blizz to exploit a bug.

If you were behind in your ring progression a catch up mechanic would kick in and the upgrade item could drop off of rares or the event mobs but if you didn’t loot the item it would be mailed to you and not count as you having it.
This could be repeated until your ring is fully upgraded.
Also you could get one step ahead via faction changing.
My monk is one upgrade ahead. I didn’t realize at the time that I had received an upgrade item at the time and got one in the mail.
Yeah. Someone in my guild has theirs at 658 already. Def exploited something or had multiple in their mailbox from something…
Mine is 652 but i didn’t do anything sketchy or play heaps, i just did the weekly stuff when i logged in after reset 
I server transferred to join guild server and got an extra one.
The OP is from last week. That’s why they were confused.
