How do cross-realm and cross-faction guilds work?

I’ve always just joined the first guild that invites me, but now that I’m wanting to push end-game content, I’m searching for a guild that fits my goals and schedule.

I’m wondering if guilds are cross-faction AND cross-realm now. I’ve heard realms must be connected, that not all guilds are cross-faction, and it seems every time I used a guild finding service outside of the game (Discord, Reddit, Forums, Guilds of WoW), there are faction and realm filters that limit the number of guilds I can search.

Currently I’m playing on Barthilas, an Oceanic and Horde dominated server as Horde, but there are so many more players on Frostmourne that seem to be mostly Alliance. Would I need to transfer realms to have an easier time finding the right guild for me?

Thank you!

You can stay on Barthilas and join a Frostmourne (or any server) guild now if you want. You’ll have some limitations on public interactions outside the guild, however you will have full access to guild interactions, including access to guild crafters. Horde/Alliance doesn’t matter except the person inviting you needs to be the same faction unless you are battlenet friends.
