How do casual players make gold in SoD?

I work between 10 to 12 hours a day, 5 days a week. Somehow in that time frame ive managed to hit level 40 with my guild and clear gnomergan on the 2nd lockout. I dont get a lot of play time, maybe 1 hour a day if that and some on weekends. If it werent for being a warlock id have no mount. Ive got like 39g to my name. How do people who have little play time earn such massive amounts of gold to be able to afford proffession leveling, consumables for raids, money to purchase gear upgrades that are selling from 20g to in the hundreds? I just cant seem to figure it out. Ive watched gold making videos and they all are like earn 100g or 1000g an hour with this farm, meanwhile it takes like 20 minutes to even get to that area.

I farm SM GY bosses, GY/Armory chests. No competition. Not amazing gold per hour but chill. Mageweave sells decent. Find humanoids somewhere that drop mageweave, sell that along with their gray drops.

We don’t have little playtime.

I play WoW an unhealthy amount, easily 8+ hours a day. Because I work from home and am self-employed so I only have about 4 hours of work, 7 days a week.

Because of this, I have about 1500g farmed up, most of it from farming in Phase 1, with around a third of it coming from farming in Phase 2 alone so far.

I can only do this because I have too much free time.

EDIT: Of course, the other answer is that the people with a lot less free time than me but with seemingly endless amounts of gold are swiping their credit cards and buying gold.

Getting lucky helps. I was broke as a joke, running around on foot questing at 40 to make money for my mount and got a bow of searing arrows and a plated fist of hakoo to drop. I might now have enough cash to make my epic helm, maybe lol.

That is insanely lucky. One is awesome, but both of those things? Bro, go buy a lotto ticket lmao.

The funny thing is they both dropped off of nagas too. 1 in stv getting my dispersion rune and 1 in feralas doing the void core stuff

For me, It’s the luck of the draw as I would of could find that open item that can sell for more then 10K and that is the only time I’d use the AH… Finding items along the way which seems to bring a few extra gold right when I needed it. But most of the time. I’m left with a few copper or silver.

That’s why they banned gdkp but can’t get rid of RMT.

The answer is we don’t make gold unless we only roll a single toon, and even then gold making is challenging and will take a long time.

SoD is balanced around non-casuals for sure.

I like how some of the responses to “how do casuals make gold” include people who play 60 hours a week and people who have finished 20 zones of quests. Smartest mmo community

Maybe because they want to play.
Maybe this is why they are asking the question.
Perhaps you could be more helpful with actual suggestions than being “clever” with your comments.

Questing at max remains a solid way to make gold.

What in the world are you spending 60 gold on consumables on?

LIterally just did the raid without anyone really running any consumables at all.

Either your over paying for consumables or your burning consumables that just aren’t neessessary.

It’s not that difficult.

i am having a great time making gold actually playing the game for once. Professions and farming have been very lucrative in SoD P2 thanks to the changes including but limited to GDKP ban and efforts to push out bots and RMT. Try picking up a gathering/crafting prof combo. Virtually all of them make great amts of gold right now. If not that then go farm some small flame sacs. Good luck and enjoy. P2 SoD is excellent for legitimate players to enjoy the fruits of their labors.

10k? as in, 10,000g? what items sell for 10,000g?

Any tips for making money with herb/alch?

I don’t really, I’m usually pretty poor. And that’s okay. We’re all gonna make it bros

To answer more fully: I don’t make a lot of money now, but I just to make a decent enough amount herbing in classic @ 60 w/ plaguebloom. I was the scourge of the professional farmers in the plaguelands and would often get cursed out in unknown languages and emoted at by salty farmers for prowling in while they were fighting a mob.

not knowing your server, on mine virtually any of the high end herbs are selling for large amounts of gold. Check AH prices, i bet faps, frost prot, fire prot, agil, and many others are worthwhile.

I play very casually (well I must admit I have not been motivated to do next patch 25 - 40) but when I did logon I just enjoyed leveling and didn’t worry about too much other than enjoying myself.

I figured (if I stick with it) once max level comes along then I’ll worry about buying things if I need to but until then I just keep banking the gold from quests, vendoring and whatever else I can. Folks who purchased things at level 25 will be throwing almost if not all away at 40 only to repeat it again at 60. 60 is the magic number that you’ll want to purchase things (except a mount). This is just my opinion your milage may vary.
