I went up against a very obvious dh botter who melded something a foot away from me the millisecond I pressed it. He even had a r1 shuffle title. How is he not banned?
Hi Swole,
Exalter here. First of all I want to say sorry to hear you encountered a cheater in World of Warcraft. That had to be very frustrating. With regards to why that player may not be instantly (or permanently) banned please take the time to review the below resources.
Why ban in waves instead of immediately:

Why not permanently ban:

As you can see these are complicated issues that require nuanced responses. I hope this helps and have a great day!
Was it an actual botter?
Because you accused coffee of botting when he was playing on NA and he was very much not doing that.
You also accused Maj of botting and that dude plays wow from a laptop in a retirement home.
I’ve definitely had my bashes melded before by accident, but also seen it done consistently so it could absolutely be both.
If someone melds something an inch away the very second it’s pressed, it’s a botter. And it wasn’t just one thing he melded, it was several things that he would meld and glide. There were other things like robotic like movement where it didn’t look like natural mouse movement.
Gonna need a video so that somebody qualified to assess whether or not it’s exploitive can help.
y r u acting like a gm dont think thats legal buddy
Nah, sometimes it’s an accident. I’ve absolutely melded Lassos or kidneys/stormbolts before, and that’s more luck than anything.
Are we sure it’s not just a WA? Like, what happened? Because there ARE absolutely bots that do this, but sometimes it’s just good play and you play at a fairly high MMR.
Do you have a video?
We’re not having a court of public opinion here. There are a lot of botters in this game there is no denying that. Whether this guy is botting isn’t as important as why aren’t they being banned. I remember when I used to play Dota people would be banned within a few days and the mods who did it were probably working for free since the community who hosted the games weren’t making money.
Yeah, we are. Need somebody qualified to verify.
buddy u think u r but no one else does
Hello Buhdee,
This is still an active investigation. Please do not interfere.
Hello Exalter,
You are not a GM. Please do not act like it.
We kind of are, though. We aren’t blizzard and we don’t have power to take action, so it’s just a public discussion of opinions.
There are botters for sure, but what is “a lot”? I definitely see a couple every season, I report them, and I get notifications that they were banned.
I think this is relevant, though. Botters ARE banned and rewards/titles removed. It just doesn’t happen all at once. Exalter provided some resources on this.
Further, the question of whether or not the person was botting is EXTREMELY important IMO; especially when you (and other players) have a history of incorrectly identifying and falsely reporting players.
Just yesterday Emma made a thread where someone reported and accused them of cheating when they did nothing wrong. A few weeks ago someone said that “multiple evoker exploiters are everywhere because they can change the direction of their flight”.
Oftentimes people attribute a simple fake cast as botting/scripting, when in reality it’s far more likely that there’s a combination of good/bad play and luck.
That being said, when people DO bot, it’s important to identify it so it CAN be appropriately punished.

More than a couple is a lot. These guys should be banned on the spot and they exist for months. Stop trying to make this about me you troll.
yea hey buddy ehm i think u can get banned for creatin clix of ur own like that
I feel like seeing 3 botters in 300 games isn’t “a lot”, though. And I think it’s dangerous to make a boogeyman excuse, because it just promotes and perpetuates false accusations.
I agree that they should absolutely be banned, but Exalter already explained why that doesn’t happen
I’m not. The discussion is about botting and the reporting/banning of botting. You just happened to falsely accuse people of botting before. I also cited other examples!
So any anything of substance yet
Even a crumb
You should familiarize yourself with the forum code of conduct. Nowhere is it stated you cannot be part of a community group.
The section of “Impersonating a Blizzard Employee” is what I believe you are referring to however nowhere in this thread has anyone done so. In fact it was explicitly stated:
Thank you for your inquiry and I will consider this matter closed.
Here, right on your cheek
