I’m curious to read your stories on this Sunday. feel free to be as long-winded as you like on this one.
How did you discover your forever class/primary character? What is it that you love about the race, class, or both, and what drew you to it?
(cause I haven’t been able to find mine. closest has been my Warlock or Evoker.)

I came from EverQuest where I played a druid. Someone who sorta could heal. Sorta could do damage.
Shaman felt like a continuation of that playstyle when I knew absolutely nothing about the game. More so than druids, which had all these different forms.
Picked it in TBC and didnt look back.
Lore + abilities + animations made choosing a DH pretty much a no-brainer for moi.

“And a new class, The Death Knight! Former elite soldiers of the lich king!”
“God thats so edgy and cool”
And that was it
I think first impressions matter most.
MoP frost mage (with Deep Freeze and Glyph of Icy Veins) was incredibly fun and the fantasy matched, enough that it made me “really” get into WoW. I had played before, but didn’t get serious until MoP frost mage.
I have been trying to chase that high since. I’ve played all mage specs, and literally every class at this point, mained druid, hunter, monk, shaman… and all content from world, to PvP to mythic raiding, all trying to have a similar feeling, but nothing quite captures that MoP frost feeling.
So, depending on the expansion, I just settle into whatever feels more better designed / more fun (to my taste) for the time and stick with it. This time, I’m doing druid, mostly because the class got a lot of love lately, a whole raid made for it, and a bunch of new shapeshifts.
It also depends a lot on how much free time I have for the expansion. Some classes are just better for World content, or raids, or PvP.
I was chilling as assa one day and i was like “i never tried outlaw before.” And then i found out it has a grapple hook and that was it. No other spec could even begin to be as cool.
I drift to other classes as the game evolves. I don’t have a forever class.

I was an Arms orc warrior because of how they were portrayed back then in the warcraft universe strength ,muscle power ,also I was a big fan of Hulk . But when I started to play back then I wasn’t aware of what servers were that I could switch servers and the horde community on my server was horrible to play with .
So I switched sides as prot human warrior , greeted by a better community joined a very good guild which I was part of for 3 expansions . Never looked back ever since.
I change up class/specs a ton, personally. I’ve currently returned to Blood DK after going paladin into 9.0 and then going into a different game in 9.1ish, as I really enjoyed the rapid, wild heal/damage that the spec offered. The main reason I was introduced to Blood death knight is that, during 8.3, I found the idea of playing as an undead robot vampire gnome to be the funniest, stupidest thing ever, and then the gameplay was enjoyable.
Came from EverQuest. I loved Monk’s Feign Death and the Beast Lord class. Later wished I was an Elf Ranger.
So when WoW came out, a Hunter was all of these
Started warrior in BC then decided to main shammy healing, then seen shammy is hated by blizz went DK because new.
Tank all specs was killed so lost interest, played rogue in Cata, went monk and warlock from MoP to BFA played rogue off and on between those times and leveled alts, played shadow a little.
Then Late BFA to SL was warlock again and resto druid and balance then hunter.
DF was balance druid til I was sick of it, went augmentation but finally decided to tank so played pally.
Got the Lego on a run so went ret and been having so much fun with it and after testing in beta will remain pally.
Well race wise i want to look good and have a connection to the world im in.
As an emo at heart, i settled on a void elf that i play as a half elf.
Emo with the void, looks good, and has connections to thalassian elves and humans.
Class wise, i wanted to be able to heal which really limits the options.
But monk had caught my eye since the moment i saw them. I had ruled out playing melee as i dont like it in most games so i ignored the class.
But one day i levelled a monk alt and fell in love with the playstyle.
Kinda wish i had a ranged spec but the only classes that do ranged, melee, and healer are druid and shaman which eww no.

This is def why I choose DH. They are also just so damn enjoyable to play. I know some will not agree but it’s just how I feel about it. my second is DK

One day, I was bored, and my PVP friend kept bugging me to play Druid; I kept telling him it was a stupid class and I wouldn’t try it. But we wanted to buy a carry together for leveling because we wanted to jump straight into pvp that night so, I bought the level boost once the leveling was done he told me how to play balance and I remember thinking “Wow, this is pretty simple” sort of why I liked it, but I never did fully play balance. I got into restro as my main all because my friend asked me if I knew how to heal and I told her no, then i decided to teach myself restro lol

Initially mained a hunter because the early vanilla warrior leveling was dire and not being 100% tied to gear to be able to do anything appealed.
Switched to Warrior later around MoP because the things I was great at as hunter like kiting stopped being important.
I read “stealth” in the character creation page and said “sign me up.”
Zig zagging my way through mobs in the Barrens and I was hooked.
I got pissed off at super long DPS queues one day and now I play all the healers and only PvP.
Always played a Hunter in WoW, since day one.
I tend to play ranged specs that do physical damage, not so into casters.
In SWTOR, I played a ranged trooper tank, it was fun.
Anyways, I generally play the “evil” faction, played Imperials in Star Wars games, and Horde in WoW, when given the choice.
Fast-forward to today- the Horde just isn’t what I enjoyed about it originally.
Cute fluffy Vulpera and Blood Elves are basically the whole faction now, plus the damage Sylvanas did- it wasn’t for me anymore.
When I first played WoW, undecided on a main, Alliance was the first faction I experimented with.
I’m basically a loremaster of both sides at this point. The lore might be crap, but I still know it regardless lol.
Horde seems to be having an identity crisis, I just migrated over to Alliance where everything generally makes more sense.
Horde aesthetic is trying to be cute and scary/badass at the same time. Doesn’t work.
When I started playing the game, I was into PvE like most players. I played holy paladin because it was simple to grasp, had interesting lore, and it was easy to get invites to group content. Fast forward to BFA and PvP became my focus and I switched to retribution because it is more fun than healing in that mode. I also like to role play a zealot.
I came from WC3, where I’d fallen in love with the orcs and this revolutionary new idea that they could be noble and heroic instead of Always Chaotic Evil rockbrains, and thought Thrall was the coolest mother ever.
I booted the game up intending to make a male orc shaman as my first character, but went male troll instead because I really didn’t like the male orc model. I went Enhancement at first, but later rerolled the same character to a different server to play with a RL acquaintance, and went Resto.
Some time later I thought it would be cool to have a max level shaman of each spec (this being back when changing specs involved a trip to your hub city and sizable goldsink), and rolled a female orc to be my Enhancement, and a male tauren to be Elemental.
Dual spec got added to the game in Wrath before I ever finished leveling the Elemental shaman, and he ultimately wound up deleted after I made Elemental my main’s off spec. My Enhancement shaman had already reached max by then, and I enjoyed the spec a lot more than Elemental, so she was in no danger.
I eventually left the game due to real life for a few years in MoP without leveling my Enhancement alt, and when I returned late in WoD, I decided to catch her up to 90 before hoping back to my Resto main to push to 100.
I hit 90 on the Enhancement shaman… and just kept going, letting my old Resto main stay happily retired on his farm in Halfhill. He earned it.
(Finally coming to terms with being transfem a few years after the switch only helped cement that decision).
