How did you find "your" class?

If I played classic or something I’d probably be an affliction lock. I love the aesthetic and the idea of being fairly tanky with some self heals and just constant pressure. I’m not a huge fan of massive burst during CDs, I just like to rot my opponents down and survive.

Right now playing affli feels like it’s a lot of damage but not great survivability. It’s pretty fun still, but not what I imagine it used to be.

Other classes have their pros and cons, but not a single class feels “right” to me.

Maybe I’m just tired of wow finally.

Some of the intentions behind designing a class has changed over time. Aff falls under this category for the most part.

Pretty much aff from TBC till Legion. BFA just butchered the spec completely and SL has created an anomaly of it. If anything, spriest sort of fits this description now.

I actually lvld a survival hunter in BC and tried to melee with it. Then I saw a warrior was what I was trying to do so I lvld that. When Blizz made Surv “melee” it was a calling…

I started with rogue, moved to warrior in wrath, ret and mage in mop, then back to warrior in wod and finally dk in bfa and I just haven’t enjoyed other classes since.

Experimented them all. Found the one I could click on the easiest.

I still don’t know what my main is. I think I just level new toons, get excited about them for a while then move on to something else.

I basically play whatever btags are requesting I play, but I don’t enjoy Resto Druid very much.

Playing every class is pretty fun, but druid is definitely my favorite because it can ALWAYS do something. Relatively tanky, lots of mobility, damage, cc, and offheals. Doesn’t do anything best, but can do a bit of everything so you can always play better.

I like being an annoying little rapscallion and so the choice was obvious.

After I picked the server it came up with an option to select race/gender and class.

It’s lock for me but we’re in a rather weird spot imo. Like you said it’s not what we used to be. I’ve found myself playing my lock less and less because I hate how empty and hallow the class feels.

Destros just a chaos bolt bot. And even if you go necro and run shadowburn for a pseudo fire build it’s still rather empty. Current demo isn’t as bad as legions and bfas but I miss wod style where I could have meta and my super fun rotation. And aff honestly needs either something like sacrolash making corruption apply Siphon life or our dots to be reworked. It actually feels so awful to play aff in pvp and pve rn imo, so much dot juggling only for all your damage to be from a non dot nuke in the end anyway.

I also hate how our defensives are. We’re supposed to be the tanky and immobile livelords but outside of ele every other caster feels on par or tankier than us. So we’re not even really fulfilling the niche we’re supposed to provide and ontop of that we’ve gotta kite soooo much it’s insane. Also I don’t mind the fact we gotta kite before anyone goes “reeee bfa lock wants to stand in the middle of the map forever”, but the fact I gotta run more on my lock than my spriest/boomy shouldn’t be the case imo.

Finally I hate how unrewarding being a hardcaster is in this meta. I know frost mlx and other caster cleaves helps. But it still feels really bad having to hard cast and ramp up when every other caster can either dump all the damage they want instantly or hardcast a little bit into the rest of it being instants.

So far spriest and necro boomy are the ones that feel the most similiar to what I’ve been wanting but nothing compares to lock for me and it sucks.

def sounds like you’re just burnt out, i go thru phases like this sometimes

my first max level was a dk on wrath launch. I picked it cuz they looked cool but my god the class is boring and not for me. I tried lock next, didn’t like being a punching bag.

I tried mage next and had a blast, I figured out self reliant cc setup + burst damage is what I enjoy the most in this game. I stuck with it and got my arena master/2.6 first season.

I’ve really started enjoying mage less in the past few expansions tho. No deep, no blanket - I hate not being able to set up my own kills, feels boring/support ish. So i’ve been playing rogue a lot more and enjoying it

I guess I’ve more found a playstyle I enjoy rather than a class

I identify with whatever looks fun tbh but mainly play feral and rogue

I usually always liked chars shooting bows in fantasy games

Playstyle of hunter was extremely unique from other classes so I just stayed with it

i made one of every toon to 60. ironically hunter was the last one i made and now it’s my main and fav. I like the playstyle in pvp but it makes life in korthia, etc so much easier bc you have stealth and FD. You can run past 50 mobs to get where you’re going then just FD when you get there and they all run away. so nice

absolute poser

I really like this outlook. The “playstyle” is def something I chase.

Did you just stick with rogue now? Any other classes have a set up based playstyle?

mostly rogue but i’ve been experimenting with ele lately. it can be really fun into some stuff, boring into other things (getting railed by ret war 24/7). def has enough dam to kill with some well timed cc - feels great to land hex lassos

I’ve been wanting to give hunter a try, survival/marks in particular look pretty fun

I always play my druid and lock usually as Affliction and balance because I love seeing rot damage just slowly take everyone down in hp. However they changed all dot damage and put it into nukes at the start of BFA and added Azerite traits to buff them for dot builds and then straight nerfed them which sucks.

I really wish they would go back to having PROPER dot specs like they had in cata/mop/wod and legion =(.
