I’m cleaning up some achievements for fun, and I had to kill a boss in UBRS. How did we find this thing? Does anyone know/remember?
exploring? i dont understand the question
I remember running around like an idiot until someone else showed up and I could follow them.
Eh same way as temple of hakkar, Messing around till you find something and you tell others about it
I did not even know what L/U-BRS was until I saw someone run up one of those chains and leap onto the balcony.
Quest chains and word of mouth. Thottbot/Alakazam(wrong spelling)/forums and such.
Top rank of spells didnt come from trainers, but from drops in UBRS, so players had to go in.
Fun times: UBRS was a 10an raid (kinda) and LBRS was a 5 man back then.
Yeah… Good times. The lord knows how many times I ran UBRS with the same crowd, every night.
Edit: I felt so included by Lord Victor (being the only one in a dress)
I still have PTSD from the Attunement chains.
Actually UBRS was a 15 man when it first came out… not really sure about LBRS.
They were the same dungeon, no?
Ugh. I remember needing someone that had the key to even get into the darn instance.
The same way
got around.
Nintendo Power.
Sort of. The instance portal was the same but LBRS was meant for 5 players and UBRS was meant for 10 (15 originally).

Used to have quests that take you into other zones. They got rid of almost all of those changing to make sure quest chains keep you in the same zone you acquired them.
I haven’t run it in ages but the layout has stuck with me pretty well… ran it quite a bit in vanilla seeking T0 and later T0.5. Lots of bosses and trash with fun “quirks”, like hunters kiting Drakkisath. One of the more memorable dungeons overall.
LBRS I’m a bit more shaky on simply because I had less reason to go there but it’s not too bad either.
See, I loved running dungeons because I loved the “Small party trying to figure it out” element. Usually the hard thing was working with the classes you had, teaching a tank, or managing feared mobs.
I don’t begrudge anyone M+ but it killed a lot of my enjoyment.
exploration of blackrock mountain and all its dungeons was fun
there is a portal to molten core in blackrock depths
even after all these years I am still confused navigating in blackrock depths, crazy place
IIRC in the original design, you had to do BRD to get into MC - every time - and same went for Stratholme/Naxxramus
I just followed the ones that already knew. It seems obvious now, but at the time I would never have guessed that I could walk up and down the chains.
