How did raiding become so degenerate?

LFM BRD must have pre-raid BIS/Both world buffs/Consumables/Gear checking/Gear enchants/[Insert Item] on soft reserve…you get the point

It’s a level 25 raid. Its not hard, the mechanics are incredibly simple and it can be cleared with fresh 25’s easily. Yes your run might be 15 mins longer but it can be cleared.

Raid culture has turned a very casual game (Yes this is a very casual game) into some sweaty degenerate game of parsing and speed runs and somehow classic has turned more degenerate than Retail.

I know this culture isn’t going anywhere and is deeply rooted in classic now but I was just hoping it wouldn’t have transferred over from all the other classic versions.

Never underestimate the badness of the average raider.

And its really not hard to get the world buffs and consumes required for raiding. Its a basic effort check.

This hasn’t been my experience at all. I see lots of groups advertising dad/noob runs. I had to pug BFD last night, someone advertised they needed DPS, I joined, we ran it with no problems, everyone was happy, we didn’t bother with master loot, the epic staff dropped, we all gratsed the guy who won it, we killed the dragon, said gg, and hearthed out.

Out of curiosity, what are your average personal clear times?

To add some context, I don’t personally care. I don’t find faster/slower better or worse, but I could imagine that someone who wants to have a sub-30 minute clear time matched with someone who regularly spends more than an hour being problematic.

It isn’t clear why you’re looking at some particular messaging in /LFG and writing a forum post about it, so digging into that might shed some light into whether there’s a bigger picture to see here.

Why don’t you create your own raids? You can bring anyone you want then.

Plenty of people still fail at BFD on the final 2 bosses, so no if you bring enough people who have weak DPS, or which can’t manage mechanics, its certainly not a sure thing. It will also become more expensive as you will use consumes on every attempt, and there is a good chance you wont finish.

“Basic effort check”

The raid requires basic effort…as in just be there and press your buttons. The raid is not hard at all, no matter how bad you want it to be.

and just to be clear I have ran this raid multiple times so I’m not just some andy complaining who cant find a group.

Yet another thread complaining that the people forming raid have standards. The only people offended by these standards are people who want to join a group, but don’t meet these standards.

But it shouldnt offend you, because if you want a group so bad that will accept you, form your own group and set your own rules.

This is my point your talking about CLEAR TIMES. This is so baked into the community now its an expectation. RETAIL HAS MYTHIC+ FOR CLEAR TIMES.

If it was so easy, why were so many runs advertising “5/7” for weeks. I agree the raid is easy, there are just a lot of bads out there and it’s ok if people don’t want to run with people that are “5/7” quality.

Kelris needed a nerf. His magic resist was too high, and people who brought magic dps kept getting stuck on kelris.

I doubt that was the real reason. We cleared it first reset with two mages. Who is bringing only boomkin, mage, warlock, spriest, and ele shaman. I suppose those did exist but I bet most runs had a mix of physical and casters.

It’s fascinating how bad classic players are.

Sometimes I can’t even tell a bot apart from a classic player.

They both backpedal and keyboard turn.

This game really is made for the most unskilled players.

Imagine if blizzard made the raids like 25% harder, the forums would be flooded with crying to nerf it and how this isn’t an e-sport.

Yeah. People want to get in, get their loot and get out. That seems to be pretty normal. There are of course groups focused on other things, like speed clears, but that’s not something you’re typically going to see assembling in /LookingForGroup.

When I put groups together, I do try to get fast clear times. I’m looking to have a decent composition, and require people to be in discord. I do ask people questions like, “How’s your gear? Do you need Talwar? Set pieces?” mostly to get a sense. I try not to stack full groups of people who don’t need anything, and I will attempt to prio reducing gear need overlap when forming a pug.

I do get some interesting comments though, and some people are reluctant to share their information with me, or to hop into discord. I require discord, because on occasion when I have not, the people who I’ve made exceptions for have, without fail, been problematic. Either asking many questions about things that I’ve literally already explained (yes, in discord. I don’t want to type for 3 hours in a sub-30 minute run), or some other thing pertaining to the otherwise obvious loot rules, which are usually BiS > MS > OS whenever I do host PuG groups.

People can make fun of me for how I run my PuG BFD runs, and they can join someone else’s or run their own. What works for me, works for me.

Something that I do sometimes notice is something like, “LF1M healer (Staff Hard Reserved)” or something I saw a warrior post last night, “LF1M tank for SFK ring HR’ed” and they stand out to me. Not because I want to join them, but because I want to tell them, “Hey buddy! You’re HR’ing an item that might be the only reason the role you’re looking to fill would want to run that.” And in the latter instance, “And you’re literally playing that role’s exemplary class!”

The 5/7 groups.

This is way way over exaggerated. I lead pugs 5 times every reset and the only thing required is WB and buy consumes to make the run smooth. If you can’t take an extra 10 minutes or spend 30 silver to help out everyone else in the group why would someone invite you to the raid?

Sod was clearly marketed towards retailers.

On my server there were a ton. I doubt they were all filled with casters. The boss is brutal to heal without consumes and poor play by melee.

Yeah so I have.

But if the raid wasn’t easy, we still wouldn’t hear about these horror stories of pugs in bfd for 2 hours and unable to kill Kelris

Hence the requirements

ive watched the lfg channel for a while as i was looking for groups for my 4th lvl 25 the past few days and havent seen a spam like the one in the op but maybe 1 or 2 times.

all the other ones almost are just have boon and consumes and thats it.

i will say , if you cant even get the boon that drops so often i havent been in tb longer than 5 mins without it dropping at all times during the day and night every day and consumes that cost maybe 1 quest worth for 2 attempts of double pots…

i dont know what to tell you.

you obviously put in no effort at all to show you want to work your fair share for the group and are probably dead weight.

So here is my response to every one of these. If it’s so simple and the requirements are so low… why aren’t you making your own pug with your own requirements? There is your answer.

edit: I’m probably not going to come back to this thread, so I will spell it out for you now. Running a pug of completely random people is annoying. It’s like the proverbial box of chocolates, you never know what you are gonna get. It’s like trying to herd a bunch of sheep that are constantly trying to wander off in different directions.

So, the higher you make the entry requirements the less chance you have of collecting a bunch of lemmings that are going to drive you insane.
