How did people feel about goblins when the first came out?

I was just curious something. Just about all my characters are goblins and I am quite the goblin nerd myself. However I wasn’t around in cata. What was the overall reception to goblins when they were first released? I heard that Ogres were originally going to be the Horde side race in cata.

I was all for them but I am a fan of smaller races (and yes I have a named reserved for my little fox person lol). I was not a huge fan of the starting area though.

I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for le gobbos, probs always will

I loved them, and I think there would be a lot more of them if they shortened the time required to do the starting area. Perhaps have an account-wide feature so that if you do it once, you can skip it after that.

Everyone loved them. It was universally agreed to be the saving grace of Cata.

I was on the fence about them when cata first launched, I was really hyped for Worgens though. However the Worgens ended up disappointing me. At some point I decided to level a goblin and it was great. I think they have one of the best starting areas and are still one of my favorite horde races to play.

I like goblins but I am never ever ever doing that starting area again

I can see the reasoning behind instanced starting areas that you have to play through but I really preferred being able to set out and go to any starting zone

I was like it’s about time they finally added a race that belongs in the horde.

I think goblins are awesome.

I think it’s stupid that they’re horde only though, they should’ve been the first neutral race.

I was pleasantly surprised when they were revealed at blizzcon! I don’t think anyone knew what to expect after Wrath of the Litch King, and the introduction of Worgen and Goblins as playable races was really shocking and fun! It dawned on me that we’d have a smaller race on the horde, which we lacked up until that point, and the thought of goblins making their way across a battlefield with us got me giddy! Love’m!
