How do I find out how I died? I was in Darnassus, went AFK so long the game logged me out. When I logged back in, I was dead in Stormwind near King Varian’s memorial and my body was under a bridge in the mage quarter. But it happened so long ago game-time-wise I don’t have the option to Recap. Is there a way to find this out? I have NO idea how I got to SW in the first place.

There was a legit battle that included EVERYONE including people that don’t have BFA and aren’t even high enough level for BFA battles? This happened TONIGHT, not when BFA began.
The memorial is about 40 meters away from the bridge, this post is a lie.

You fell asleep and a Sentinel came across you laying there on the ground. She assumed you were hobo so she decided to send you on a boat to get you back to where you came from. When you arrived to Stormwind the guards were not sure where to send you because all Gnomes are actually homeless and Westfall was too full. So they decided to snuff you out in your sleep and hide you under a bridge where they thought nobody would ever look.

10/10 story. I recommend this treatment for all gnomes. Worgens too. Humans as well. Dwarfs also. Throw in some Draenei (the males). The other playable Alliance races not important enough for me to remember – them too!

Here’s what happened.
Instead of putting in a persistent original Teldrassil phase that can be switched on or off by characters that have begun BfA, like in Blasted Lands or Silithus, they chose to put in one that was not persistent. Talking to the dragon to visit pre-BfA Darkshore and Teldrassil does not stay set.
I have not purchased BfA. Only a few characters did prepatch content. Yet none of my 110’s who hearth to Teldrassil arrive there. Instead they show up in post-BfA Darkshore and have to ask to be ported to the old Lor’danel.
One of my characters even did some content there.
It was a stupid way to do it. It’s buggy as all heck. And when somehow your character got reset, the system had no idea where to send you.
Where you logged in is where it sends people who get lost in the system.

What about low level characters? Also, I had a 110-ish that logged out there for a while and he stayed in the inn
My low level characters parked there have not had the issue that the OP has. But I don’t recall if I’ve tried to park one in Teldrassil at 110.
I just think it’s the wrong way to go about it to put characters that have not bought BfA or done BfA content in nouveau Darkshore. It feels inherently buggy.
I have a level 49 who is there as we speak. Everything looks as it did before the burning.
That’s why I’m saying it’s buggy. Because weird stuff doesn’t happen consistently. That makes it harder to track down, if they care.
If I’m a 110 who has not bought BfA, I should not find myself in a Darshore full of 120 mobs.

Your character got up to some wacky hijinks while you were away, it’s probably for the best that you don’t find out what happened.
