How come we aren't like the D&D community?

Pretty much.

I would agree with you, but i would say that the animosity really started in Cata, not wrath. Cata was the start of modern wow as we know it, wrath still had roots that grounded it in Role play esq mechanics/things.

Other then that though i agree.

Lol. People saw three bosses and saw the next Maw of Souls.

Are we forgetting the massive backlash they received from real i.d. and trying to remove flying in WoD? Once in a while blizzard does something so universally ill advised that basically the whole community does rally against it.

We do hate one another, but that isn’t why.

We have a lot of folks that just are against whatever complaint is voiced. Call them fanboys or bootlickers or whatever. But no matter what they seem to think everything about this game and company is great. We even have people shrugging off the real life crimes of employees and still supporting the game.

So maybe we do hate one another that much? This community is absolute trash.

Blizzard is too intellectually dishonest to ever let a little thing like losing several million subscribers get in the way of making the game worse in the name of short term profit.

The biggest difference is that you can easily cancel your DND Beyond subscription and still play DnD - all the subscription gives you is some nice perks to make your gaming experience better. It’s really easy to rally a community around canceling their premium/extra subscription when they can still easily keep playing the game for free.

For a massive subscription exodus to occur in WoW, people would have to commit to ACTUALLY quitting the game not just canceling a premium payment that barely impacts their gaming experience. So WoW will tend to have a slow bleed off of subscriptions that is much harder to attribute to any specific issue.

Cause there’s too many cringey right wingers on here that are still hung up on stupid :poop: like body type 1 and 2 in a character selection screen to get anything real done.

There’s black Venthyr pants that have a legging/tights/yoga pants vibe to them. Sinful Inquisitor’s Leggings.

Edit. Also in brown but meh.

Because there’s way more WoW players so harder to unite.

Nothing the dnd community will or can do will change the outcome but go off sis

Is WoW trying to claim everything that content creators are making?

Not much to compare to until then.

There was quite a rally against blizzard’s idea to use our real names (or was it battlenet name, i forget. one of the two) on the forums. Probably been other stuff but that is what came to mind first and foremost.

was quite an outcry when they removed flying in WoD. Sadly, it took blizzard near a decade before they listened

To have the same equivalent happen there would have to be enough Asmongolds announcing quitting streams/videos of WoW.

The D&D OGL thing was having youtuber after cosplayer coming out and announcing they were moving on from D&D.

This hurt promoting D&D hence the response by WoTC/Hasbro.

WoW’s promoting would have to be hurt for this to happen.

Oh, it wasn’t us being united that made them scrap Real ID. It was when a Blizzard CM telling players to chill out, “nothing’s gonna happen to you with Real ID, here’s mine to prove it” ( paraphrasing as it’s been a while ) and then ended up having to leave Blizzard after his name , address, his wife’s name and employment, his kids names and the school they went to, and of course pics were provided via some of the more talented of the WoW community tracking his info down from his Real ID he posted in his taunting.

Khloros gave a decent summary, but for more depth if desired:

because - and I know some people will disagree - blizzard/activision hasn’t done anything nearly as gross with wow as WotC did with the OGL.

if they suddenly said “ok, all wow content creators have to now pay us royalties and we own all content you make” I’d be willing to bet the community wouldn’t put up with that.

crap like legacy flying (just picking a random common complaint) simply isn’t as big an issue as the OGL.

during all the sexual harassment stuff we did see the community mostly stand together and say “no, we’re not supporting you right now, do better”

Damn, that’s terrible, that just ruins everyone’s creativity.

Why throw shade at D&D community? You know that WOW writers also agree that Horde was POC-coded and were depicted as barbarian as well don’t you?

Yeah it is a giant bag of bad that they were and likely will still try to do.

Another one if interested about their ‘response’ to the outcry:
