Well the newer skintones and faces are, well, just that. Newer!!!
Because you could only play as a āwhiteā human for like 14 years or so, only until WoD did they add other races for humans.
If you wanted to be a self-insert character of yourself, for your sake youād better be white. As a brown person myself I opted to play a blue-skinned troll instead.
(I guess minorities never played video games until recently- no reason to add more cultures to customization, because only white people play video games. /s)
And then later they added darker skin for Elves and other races as well.
The real reason is laziness.

hereās a better question, why do only humans get different faces based on their skin color?
Also why do the humans in wow look so bad compared to the rest of the races? every race looks better than the human.

They gave the new faces a youthful look while the older faces have the āiām a middle aged manā thing still going on.
TBH i think itās ridiculous that faces and skin colors are mutually exclusive, as if people of mixed races donāt exist in this universe. I think some hair colors were also locked out last time i made a human.
Either way this is not something iād expect to see from a āprogressiveā company.

Good question. It was a stupid decision on Blizzardās part to lock faces to skin types. Skin and face should be separate.
