I’m a new Vengeance Demon Hunter and have been gearing to tank M+. I’ve been following the Wowhead and Icy Veins guides to find the best-in-slot gear for mythics and have noticed that the main stats I should be looking for are Haste/Vers, but a lot of the time I see Demon Hunters in Boralus with crazy high item levels but gear that has nothing in the way of those stats. Their gear is really a mess of Crit/Mastery/Vers…Anything. I did read that item level and Agility is the priority above all, but is it really that important to forgo valuable stats like Haste/Vers for +5 item level and stats you don’t really need?
Because the only thing this game actually stacks is RNG. You stack rng on rng. Hope you get an item you need and that it has the right stats and then hope it has the right traits. Because you’re never going to get the perfect set. If you do, buy a lotto ticket.

HP pool is king for Twilight Devastation procs. Beyond that, you get the gear that drops, and sometimes, you don’t get tons of BiS stuff. Try to avoid crit/mastery pieces if possible.
In an ideal world DH tanks would be running all haste/vers yes. And you may see more players with “ideal” stats in the coming weeks now that we can buy corruptions, but until the vendor came out everyone was at the mercy of RNG loot/m+ chest.
Veng wants atleast 1 TD at high key levels and will wear whatever they need to obtain that item, even if it meant sacrificing a 475 haste/vers for a 460 crit/mast piece.
It also depends on who youre looking at, if youre inspecting a dh that does like 10s/11s they probably dont care what theyre wearing. Inspect one thats doing 22s/23s you might get different results.

RNG this expansion has made a joke of BiS gear… Also, a lot of people assume higher ilvl = better, which isn’t always the case.
Well for me i always go crit/master but i dont go over 15’s since there’s no point. Higher keys you will see most dh’s probably closer to haste/verse. As castiel said it really depends what keys the dh your inspecting run normally. And it also depends what you plan to run if its 15’s and lower stats dont really matter take what you like, over that def go haste/verse.
So honestly my tank set and DPS set is the same minus a change in azerite pieces and trinkets and throwing on my TD3 vs IS3 ring…but I also stack vers pretty decently…not perfect but I’ve got 19% unbuffed.
VDH stats only matter on rings and trinkets. Ilevel rules everywhere else for most of the player base.
