How can WoW compete with XIV?

Says the cry-baby angry because I talked down about his precious FF14 on a WOW forum…

I’ll take that burger now for free.

Whatever, Karen. Go yell at your betters while they pity you.

Now get my burger bud. Lol, such an angry man-child.

Oh and btw, thank you for continuing to prove all my points about you.

And thank you both for providing me and my friend with some hilarious entertainment while we craft in FFXIV.

Stormblood released 06/2017
Shadowbringer release 07/2019

That is about an expansion ever two years.

Endwalker released 12/2021(which mean it took about 2 1/2 years since Stormbringer)

If the next expansion after Endwalker was suppose be after 2 years, it should be released 12/2023 or about early 2024. But that report seems to suggest its not going to be the case, and my best guess it will probably release June/July 2024.

You do realize all of those things(minus housing) will be in the next minor patch of WoW which is likely by March?

The next major patch is probably in May/June based on their road map. 10.2 I expect december this year, Assuming we get another major patch 10.3 will probably be in June and then the next expansion will probably release december again of 2024.

First of all, stop looking at poorly written clickbait. It doesn’t do you any good.
Also, there is always a x.x5 final patch, which would last around 70 days, so the earliest they’d bring out 7.0 would be Feb. And that depends on how much set up they want to give the next xpac. Yoshi P believes in delivering a quality product. In fact, he delayed the launch of Endwalker because he was not satisfied with an cutscene. You can bet your bottom dollar that he is going to make sure that 7.0 is something his players are going to want to enjoy and if that means a longer set up, he would not be afraid to do that. Unlike Blizzard who released not one, not two, but three xpacs that were not ready to be launched.

You think so? They are going to be swapping out a couple of old dungeons for M+. The story is trash, so don’t expect much there.

They are NOT switching the dungeons yet. That comes in a major patch. 10.0.7 is mostly new quests/Forbidden reach and some new activities. As for the story all I can say is I’m enjoying it more then SL but obviously that was not a high bar. I do think DF can be a good expansion story wise but we will see what they do.

I really doubt the next FF expansion will be in Feb. But again, its pretty much a wait and see.

It all depends on how many M+ players they lose once their valor is capped this week. Blizzard is banking on their FOMO trade vendor to keep people subbed the first of every month, but I’m sure some of those M+ players don’t really care about that stuff.

Simple: Stop forcing cringe stuff into the game - terrible storytelling, annoying npcs, badly delivered lines, forced npc lines every single WQ you pass by, etc. Removing annoyances goes a LONG way.

Then add positive features like a better profession system, REAL proper housing supported for all time, etc people things really want.

Top thing they have to add: BAD LUCK PROTECTION FEATURE. If your aiming for a specific weapon, everytime it doesn’t drop, you get a token like in FFXIV. Clear it X amount of times without seeing it drop or winning it - you buy it from vendor. Just like what they did in SL season 4 but permanent.

Did you skip pandaria then? Do you avoid pandaria zone except for M+ temple? Also wow has pandaria bridges in vanilla world.

Wow retains players with its endgame. Lots of ff14 players get to the end of the current story and then unsub until next expansion.

I don’t think they really compete.

Story is good for an hr of 1 time content. I like the story

Relic weapons aren’t new content this time, You buy them by doing the content you have been doing for almost a decade, roulettes.

You mean challenge mode dungeon, not dungeons, which arrived with a resounding thud cuz it requires savage gear ilvl to even do and there’s no rewards so even finding a group to do it after the first week was tough and impossible now. the variant dungeon easy mode is a 1 time frolic for the hamster. I hope they do add more tho with meaningful rewards in the future.

Beast tribes are what they always add, 3 tribes over the expansion with 3 dailys that take 10 min where the meaningful reward is at the end of months of doing them.

Yay… housing items… for something the majority of the players don’t even have. I really wish they would stop adding so many housing items as rep rewards. And instead start adding the fan contest weapons.

Achievements… For a system they game up on long ago. Yea, wow adds achievements also.

And don’t knock the trading post. Ff14 fans rave about the moogle tomestone event which is timed to keep ppl paying a sub at the end of major patch cycle. The trading post is a forever thing and so far the rewards are unique and not stuff you can get easier by soloing old content like the tomestone event has been. It needs more items like the ifrit jacket.

And the last wow patch added the future primalist event and reworked druid as well. How long was it till SE reworked paladins to fit in with the current gameplay? Almost a year?

Thing about ff14, if you are new there IS a lot to do. What is it, like 150 hours of story and all the dungeons that you do along the way? Eureka, Bozja, EDs for the first time. The spectacle and music are top tier. Now if you are a player that keeps current each expansion, there is not a lot to do at endgame and even less starting with ShB. And this is a major gripe on the ff14 forums, getting less in each patch and now the cycles are longer. even the relic quest is back to grinding old content instead of having a zone and story with a raid dedicated to the relic. That and that classes have been homogenized and dumbed down since SB, the 2 min meta is garbage. Probably why I stick with Black mage and dancer, they at least still feel unique. But since you can only raid current savage as one armor type (unless you are the 1%)l that full clears every week starting from week 1) I stick with Black mage.

What I’ve found is ff14 front loads it’s main story which is awesome and everything after is more a bridge to the next expansion, but the current expansion gameplay content is lacking. Where wow frontloads a lot of content and it’s main story plays out over the expansion patches but they at least come with new zones. Also wow adds far more raids with more challenges for those looking for it. A year and 3 months in and we have have had 8 raid bosses in EW and only 4 are current. EX trials are cool but they get older faster than savage for me. And alliance raids… Cool spectacle but it’s a once a week 20 min zerg. It’s nice for some glam while shutting your brain off.

For me I’m back to waiting till the last patche’s of ff14 expansion, which is ok, they designed it that way. I can’t do the savage raid logging anymore. I can’t afk pose in Limsa for hours on end like I see so many doing ALL THE TIME… Jesus i see allucard floating by the Limsa aetherite 24/7. We get it, you got the awesome emote from the limited run Ultima weapon statue

Bad comparison. You want Jecht instead. The man’s more of an Orc than most Orcs in this game.

It’s called Feats of Strength under Achievement even though it only shows the time when I was Casual. The whole profile achievement website was non-existent when I was hardcore. You would see there that I love dungeons and raid when they were current.

The new players consider WoW toxic becoz they are being gated. Why are they gated above LFR and on M+ ? Becoz Bosses on WoW wont die with weaksauce toons. Unlike those “Trivial MMO” games, Bosses die regardless if there are noobs. Even if I let my 10 year old nephew play there, Bosses would still die there.

You can buy AOTC, no one cares about that lol. So far you seem pretty “soft” still.

I love M+ and I am soft. Yes, you are right. ROFL. Buying? I rather sell than buy.

So basically you fit the mold of the people you would discredit lol.

Sure.

The OP isn’t really wrong, WoW should be looking at its competitors more seriously and seeing what they could use to help improve their own game(within reason of course). The thing is though if you mention FFXIV here you are likely to be heavily scrutinized just as you would if you mentioned WoW in the FFXIV community. The fact remains though both games could learn a lot from each other and it isnt just WoW that needs serious changes as well.

Zoomers are lazy. They hate hard games. Most them find WoW complicated.

FF14 caters Zoomers. Some parts of WoW also caters Zoomers. But WoW’s strength on Dungeons, Raid and PvP… are Zoomer’s hated content.

Well first off, it’s one game. This way of thinking that WOW dies if a single video game gets more players is not even close to realistic. I can’t find current statistics, but in mid 2021, FF had 30k more players than WOW. With the controversies at Blizzard that led to the mass influx of people to FF largely over, they’re probly still very close in numbers. Then you add that WOW is slightly more expensive monthly, and WOW probly actually makes more by a small margin. And even if the 2 big dogs are FF and WOW, the fact that there’s 2 big dogs means WOW has nothing to worry about. FF is a legendary series that has been around since the Japanese Famicon system, having several games before we even Got FF1 on the NES. The fact that WOW can even compete with that juggernaut at all is amazing, not bad.
