I don’t like DPS. From both a gameplay point of view and a thematic / RP point of view.
But healing just isn’t fun with how homogenized and simplified healers are.
How can I make healing fun again? I don’t want to play DPS anymore, and I don’t enjoy tank before people suggest it.
I guess you could keep your ilvl down to make it more challenging

Play DPS for a while, that’s what I did.
Now I wish I was healing again, because I felt like I had more control.

Could be worth finding a set-group.
You can try bigger pulls together and also try to limit test your healing in a group that respects your wants.
Start selling your healing services.
Admittedly I don’t do a lot of healing. But in what way are they homogenised? They’re all very different in how they heal.

Been playing DPS since the beginning of TWW. It’s just so one dimensional and boring.
Even if we do bigger pulls, I’m still just pushing two buttons. Like my fistweaver I just spam SCK and no one drops below 90% health because reasons – and I never run out of mana or anything. My hpal I just put everything on cooldown and mash light of dawn, and people magically don’t die because of passive healing.
Back in the day, healers had a niche.
Disc priest was THE absorption healer, but lacked healing throughput. Pally was THE tank healer, and excelled at single target healing. Holy priest was the mass AoE healer. Rdruid was the hybrid that did a bit of everything. Rsham was THE cleave healer. Monk was THE DPS healer.
Now every healer has to be able to do everything, and no healer has any identity anymore. They also took away special resources from every healer that isn’t hpal (and I feel like hopo on hpal is goinna go away soon), they took away mana management, they took away RNG, and just simplified everything down to “Hur hur people take damage? I push heal” and it’s really boring – that or your healing is just passive, like hpal, disc and monk.
They’ve done the same thing to DPS too.
You are right.
Disc priest plays exactly the same as a resto shaman
Completely the same.

With the meta being oracle? Yeah. Disc doesn’t really rely on atonement anymore. Just targeted healing now.
Sounds more like you just hate retail wow. why are you even playing in that case. classic is that way →

I hate everything.
And classic wouldn’t be fun, since I already know everything that’s coming, and did all the content thousands of times.
idk try a new game. or take a walk outside.

What worked for me is finding the healing spec that clicks the most with you. Currently that’s resto shaman and pres evoker for me.
No other MMOs worth bothering (and, yes, I’ve tried all of them), I don’t enjoy shooters, I don’t like simp bait like KMMOs, I don’t like battle royales, survival games are fun until you get to the end of the tech tree (and sometimes not even that far, like I got bored of Dune after like 40 hours), single player games don’t last more than a couple days and feel lonely to boot…
Only other game I got is League, and it’s not fun watching Tencent murder the game to make more money, nor is it fun auto winning / losing every game based on who has better smurfs, since 80% of every lobby is a bought account.
That used to be fistweaver for me. But modern fistweaver is just not fun in any way. Way too simplistic, too many passives you don’t interact with, they took away all the RNG, infinite mana without even trying.
Or too lazy to Google it.
I understand perfectly bro: Morons have a lot of money, and are easily separated from it. So game studios cater to said morons instead of people who actually enjoy playing video games as something more than just a way to waste time or “be social.”
the new horse girl game is pretty fun
