How can I improve?

First: Logs. I’m sure you can figure out how to plug these in to warcraflogs(.)com.
Tuesdays’ Heroic run:

Last nights H Rastakhan attempts:

Now to the meat of the post.

I’ve been working my tail off to try and get my dot management down for affliction, which out of all my characters punishes me the most for any mistakes.
I’m fairly confident I’ve got it down pretty well. I can still improve on my UA and Haunt uptimes as well as defensive ability usage and I’m fairly certain My azerite traits definitely need work.

At this point, I’d welcome any/all constructive (EXCEPT: Reroll/spec change thanks.) advice on improving my raid performance in Affliction.

Haven’t read the logs but checked your armoy. Azerite traits will go a long way towards helping with DPS, especially Inevitable Demise. Far as I can tell you want 3x Wracking Brilliance (if you can), at least 1 Inevitable Demise, and then you go from there on what you want to focus on

Dropping Siphon Life in favor of Absolute Corruption may also improve your DPS to start with if only because it’s one less thing to manage as you perfect your rotation. I don’t much like Siphon Life myself because it adds to GCD management

You can post links by putting them in a code block (typing > before the link), by putting the link between back ticks ` (the key to the left of 1), or by being trust level 3:

Anyway, looking at your armory, it’s all fine. Your gear’s alright, you have decent traits. Aff isn’t that reliant on traits (though WB/ID should be taken whenever possible). Gems/enchants are good.

I don’t have too much time right now so I’ll just look at Grong:

For reference, here’s a parse I have for heroic Grong last month:

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/HyDaGRdgKw42Vkf9#fight=5&type=damage-done&source=13

The best way to compare parses is (imo) looking at total casts. Your kill was 4:12, and mine was 3:24. Normally it’s good to compare with similar fight lengths, but I think there’s a good lesson with them being so different here.

Looking at casts:

Spell Kwaii Malediction
UA 31 31
SBolt 53 37
Corr 16 6
SL 15 -
Agony 14 21
Haunt 12 12
Deathbolt 6 6
Drain Life 6 -
PS 4 5
Darkglare 2 2
Misery 2 2
Total 164 140

So in a much shorter fight I’m just casting a lot more than you are. I had nearly 20 more Shadowbolts and 50 fewer seconds to cast them. You didn’t cast a Shadowbolt between 0:15 and 1:11. Between 0:34 and 0:52 you didn’t cast anything.

There are some thing things I could go into, but honestly you just need to press more buttons. Remember your ABCs: Always be casting.

I’d recommend watching some warlock streams. Dzdz has been streaming Aff progression on Jaina:

I occasionally stream (currently on Stormwall):

There’s a thread here with some more:
