I want to roll MG or WA alliance for the RP community but I’m not sure how bad it will be having a Moongaurd tag next to my name while trying to coordinate bgs or chime in during raid content. How bad is it for you guys while doing content with people outside of MG?
My favorite is when you get someone who is angry about how a BG match is going and they say…
“Why don’t you go back to goldshire you moonguard trash”
Meanwhile they’re too busy raging in chat to contribute to anything worthwhile. ¯_(ツ)_/
——-
But I honestly wouldn’t worry about it too much. People will be people and while yes there are some negative people who set out to try and ruin people’s evening due to their own insecurities… the majority of the WoW community isn’t too concerned with what server you’re playing on.
My past experience has been, only slightly more than if they recognize that you’re from any RP server whatsoever.
It happens, but it’s unusual, and honestly the kind of moron who says anything like that will just be saying something else equally as stupid anyway.
Just don’t suck; you’ll be fine.
Best advice right here. No further discussion needed.
I honestly expected it to be a lot worse. Then i realized its only those who dont care about the game and flamers that do the sh!t talk. BUT compare to other communities i think MG has the chillest gang ever
I for once embrace my Moon Guard overlords and when people mention something like Goldshire or how it’s a sex realm I embrace it and say stuff like “I’d rather be here with you big boy~.” or “Don’t be shy, I don’t bite… much.”
If someone says anything, and that happens rarely, I just say something along the lines of “10/10 original. Never heard the Moon Guard remark before.” Usually they don’t even respond after that. I wouldn’t worry about it. It hardly ever happens and if it does? It’s usually people who are just looking to rage for one reason or another - the likelihood you will encounter them again is next to slim.
I only see it in the PvP scene. I rarely if ever see it in PvE content: usually I see others from MG be like “A NERD” and we do the spider-man pointing meme.
You can’t control the server nor are you to blame for what happened. Moon Guard, at the end of the day is another server that has more population density than most servers on this game. People who give you crap only do so to elicit a response.
If someone does give you any trouble; play along. Don’t get uppity about it. Turn the joke on them. I take Moon guard in stride because in the end; I have a ton of fun on the server. Able to make fun jokes about its cultures and still have a jolly time at the end of the day.
In all my time on MG, it’s basically this, it’s more prominent in random bgs than actual raiding/pve. Haven’t really run into it otherwise.
Generally no one gives a crap in my experience, though since I’m not the oldest player around these parts take that with a grain of salt though. People generally just want to get through whatever content they’re in and if someone starts talking crap then their annoyance will be shifted towards them and not you.
I’ve had very few, if any, comments about being on MG. It’s okay to banter Goldshire, too, if it comes up.
I tend to be a bit of a talker during pugs for pvp and pve but I’ve never had anyone mention the realm before. The Goldshire thing stopped being funny to most people a long time ago.
If anything, people from Ragnaros have it a lot worse nowadays.
Oh yea 4 sure.
Truthfully I don’t get too much of a hassle. I will sometimes get that ‘one guy’ who likes to bad mouth and talk all big, I find often enough they can’t put there money where there mouth is in terms of understanding simple mechanics or think they are the next top mythic raider. Funny enough most of the groups I tend to get paired with is from Ragnaros and Quel-dori both being Brazilian servers with there own issues and stigmas.
Pvp wise I get the simple jab but often enough it is just that. Again you will find ‘that guy’ here too but he is talking big to everyone and flopping around old achevments to show how big he is. Your always going to find that stigma anywhere but just depends on how bad it is.
What off-server players don’t know about MG you could just about fit into the Mariana Trench.
Happens once in a blue moon to me and it’s always some crack about the ERP scene in Goldshire. Sometimes it’s obviously just someone poking fun, and that’s nbd, but other times they’re a real dick about it.
Personally I use the “wear it like armor” approach. And if I’m on my main, I just wreck the DPS chart and thank them for the group.
Only issue I’ve ever had in BGs or LFG were from Wyrmies. We have a sorta sibling rivalry going on. The rest of the game is either oblivious or just don’t care about the MG stigma. As long as yer putting work in and your product shows you shouldn’t have any issues. I can’t speak for every instance, though. Just my own personal experience.
Honestly I haven’t experienced any stigma from being in Moon guard
