Altaholic here, constantly re rolling. I can’t stop.
I’ve leveled a couple rogues, locks, mages. But, in comparison, how bad is a warrior to level? Is it actually horrible? I’ve heard people say it’s soul sucking but i’m curious to those who’ve leveled something else, how bad was it?
One part is that it takes playing to a warrior’s strengths and learning which mobs are ‘easy’ kills, and which are not worth the effort.
Another part is a willingness to run around to other zones and do green quests rather than try to solo a yellow quest or even do a quest against certain mobs before they’re at level.
Many say to keep the warrior’s weapon the best you can get, but the only one I put extra effort into was the Whirlwind Axe, and I didn’t get it until around 36-ish when I could get the tusks myself (higher alt did the charms).
If you enjoy dungeon tanking, you can also maintain a 1-hand and shield in your bags, hang onto a few +stam pieces, and do a bit of that to bypass questing tedium.
How hard or difficult leveling a warrior is depends on you.
Game knowledge helps a lot as you’ll know what sorts of gear to get and where, as well as what way to spec.
If it’s a fresh roll:
I highly, highly, HIGHLY suggest taking either blacksmithing or alchemy as your trade skills. Blacksmithing to make your own gear(warriors are VERY gear dependent), Alchemy because potion buffs are amazing.
The key to leveling a warrior is only fight green mobs to both minimise your downtime due to less incoming damage and to have faster kills overall.
Edit:
I ran every instance at least once(sometimes more for gear drops) for the quest XP and then quested like crazy.
I leveled from 55-60 entirely from running BRD and LBRS as a prot warrior as it was the fastest way.
Most warriors hit a wall at around level 40, this is the level range that separates people who actually want to play a warrior and those that think they do.
At level 30, most warriors get help attaining the whirlwind weapon which is basically an Epic weapon if you get it at level 30.
Source:
I have a 60 warrior in Classic, and I leveled a warrior to 60 during vanilla.
it really really sucks
i think it’s worst than leveling a rogue and i did it via daggers
i am leveling as arms right now and its a lot of sunders and auto attacks… and you need to feed resources to the character
if you have the resources really buy boosts once mid 30s since it is a huge slog
it is the best class in the game once you geared up though…you pretty much go around globalling people in pvp and topping dps in raids
As an aside:
It sounds freaking crazy, but stack spirit as a warrior.
At 78 Spirit you regen 100HP/sec Out of Combat which reduces your downtime considerably. Below 78 spirit it’s a terrible stat, above 78 it’s your best stat and you should get as much as possible.
It’s literally Spirit > Strength > Agi >>>>> Stamina if you want to be fully meta.
Strength is your damage and agi is crit/dodge, but spirit is what really makes the leveling process less painful.
Its not bat at all, I leveled an arms warrior to get to know the class better and to have a lil fun in PVP. Its actually kinda ridiculous how much better an experience it is than what people say. Not sure how DW fury goes, but arms was really enjoyable.
I leveled as Arms in Vanilla because I was on a PVP server.
This go around I went DW to see how different it was.
DW Fury is amazing once you get Bloodthirst, before that it’s really hit and miss.
By the numbers Arms is more efficient because of the -hit penalty you accrue from Dual Wielding but you can mitigate that a lot by using a macro that queues and stops Heroic Strike so that your OH always has the normal hit modifier.
Basically, if you have HS queued your OH acts as though you’re not using DW and misses A LOT less.
Huh, if I only I had of known. I really began to like how rage works, its a way better mechanic for resource than energy if you are really digging in and aggressive. If you are holding back, then energy (rogue) works better.
Carry a cabinet of drugs. That’s what I did on my warrior. They solve every problem a warrior has.
HP regen: Don’t have time for downtime.
Rage booster: Boss fights made easy.
Swiftness: Can’t win the fight? Run away!
Invis: Not a rogue? Not a problem.
Immolation: 1 stop shop for AOE tanking.
Underwater breathing: Oxygen in a bottle.
I was also an engineer, but it didn’t matter much beyond throwing explosives in groups.
Warriors are the most popular class in the game, if it was as bad as people say it is there wouldn’t be anywhere near the amount of people playing them.
