I gave up on my warlock when I thought I was just absolute garbage and didn’t realize how much gear made a difference. I want to give it a second chance, but I keep reading how they’re not needed and hardly wanted in a bg. I’m struggling to choose between hunter (a class everyone wants to play and everyone wants in a bg) vs a warlock geared out and played well.
Hunter bores me to death. I’m excellent at it and I’ve probably hit my peak, so I have very little room for improvement outside of learning engineering properly. Warlock, I have SO much more to learn and it’s a much bigger challenge since it requires gear.
Fun and not being chosen for premades vs boredom and being chosen all the time is how I see this. Am I wrong to assume warlock won’t be a priority pick for premades?

I was always in premades on my Lock. And consistently hung around rank 10 (i think that was General for Horde) as i recall. I know i was over 100K HKs before BC even. I grouped and helped many to HWL but just never had the time personally to make a push myself.
Destro with succubus was fantastic once you have the gear. There is so much control and burst. Easy to 1v2. Sometimes 1v3 if you out gear them significantly.

Don’t worry about anybody else. They’re not paying your sub. Play the class you want to play. If hunter bored you, don’t play it. Not every class is for everyone. Play the Warlock if you want. I myself plan on playing an Orc Hunter and an Undead Warlock seeing as how those are my two favorite races and classes.

Depends on the battleground. Warlocks had some fun tricks in Arathi Basin, no matter the spec. Warsong Gulch was was all about mobility, which warlocks notably lack, so you were limited to doing particular things. Alterac Valley, well, in a crowd that big you’re gonna find plenty to do.

With BWL gear warlocks became mini-raid bosses. I used to routinely 1 vs 3 people in WSG on my warlock. Fear didn’t break as easy and there were a lot fewer stuns and interrupts. You could drain tank melee and other casters couldn’t do anything to you. A felhunter and a few dots was all it took to kill mages. Or you could go SM / Ruin and 2 shot people with shadowbolt crits.

Wherever you getting your information stop. Lock is amazing in premades Esp on Ally since they have no Ele Shaman. Warlock is the big hardcast dps that kills people.
and sorry to be rude but you probably aren’t even close to your peak if you don’t even know that Warlocks are great in premades. The only way to get better is to keep trying and keep learning. If you have that I have nothing left to learn attitude you will never be great.

I had enormous fun in Vanilla kiting the entire alliance team around mid field on my Dread Stead while a druid capped. We won so many matched this way. "Kill the Lock! Kill the Lock! "
hunters have a high skill ceiling in pvp, shouldn’t be bored with them unless you cant pull off the more advanced stuff
Distract, divert, defeat!
Lol. Premades stomp pugs. It doesn’t really matter.
I always found that I was pretty good at breaking a stalemate on my warlock in WSG. Curse of Tongues on healers when pushing with an Arms warrior could REALLY screw up the healers trying to turtle with a FC. I was usually Affliction too so Curse of Exhaustion could help, depending on what was going on. Definitely more of a utility role, even if that utility is “blow up FC healers as Destro”, in WSG than in AB or AV for sure though.

I may have misworded that. I’ve hit my personal peak with hunter, not the peak of the class. I’m not good enough to make a video for youtube and I won’t get much better, that’s why I’m looking into other classes so that maybe I can be better than my hunter.
I’ll probably be rolling ally as well. Horde wasn’t how I started and my friends are all going ally.
That’s awesome
Thanks all for the encouragement! I’ll probably be going lock this time around.
