This expansion seems particularly awful for passive gold making, and the weekly quests give you enough gold to cover incidental damage repair on your armor.
I paid 50k to craft my weapon, which I guess is fun but beyond herbing, which has plummeted in value recently I don’t know how to not go broke.
This is an issue I’ve never had in the past 8 expansions of this game. Is the answer just to not enchant, gem or craft any gear and just gain my 10-20k from herbing and weekly quests?
Am I missing something?

I really don’t understand why they kept the sky purse reward nurfed for TWW. It’s pathetic tbh. Use to be 550-600g per fly quest in DF…

Gather herb/mining more. Also fishing. I have made 2million gold this exp by gathering.

I have just been selling some of the herbs, ore and fish I gather up. Between that and regular play I slowly but surely make gold.
Been very slow on crafting because the new system still strikes me as needlessly complicated.
Do you have a crafting profession? Work orders bring in a nice supply of gold.
I just tank during call to arms and sell the rune things for like 2k a piece, I save all my herbs for myself to craft flasks so I don’t sell the mats I collect. I probably make my alt rogue a chanter and lvl that up as well cuz I have collected so many damn boa gear and I’m sure chanting is profitable
If I bothered to sell flasks I could make bank but my goal isn’t really to make gold
Just buy a WoW token… you know you want to… do it
I herb and mine on all of my toons, but I’ve only worked on my main and this pally so far. All of the herbs and ore get AH’d and I’ve made close to 1,000,000 gold at this point just from casual selling on the AH, not “playing” it as many people do.
You have the first month of an expansion to make enough gold with professions like gathering for the rest of the expansion. Else you either sell carries, buy a tsm sub to play the ah or you buy a wowtoken. They don’t really want you nowadays to simply be able to play the game by doing “fun” content.
I make about 50k a week (cause I have been slacking lately with the event) just by farming DF Dungeons with elementals in them. I grab several runs of “Rousing (Element)” and then dump it into the AH for 1g less than the lowest seller. Then someone’s AH bot buys it all in like 30 seconds. And on my very lazy months, I buy 10-15 tokens.
Sooo in order to play the game, you have to not play the game for a month and just be everyone’s gather gopher.
Farm BoEs. Groups up every day.
Sell carries, if you’re good enough.
I wouldnt say you cant play the game but youll spend some hours. Depends how much you think you need.
As with any expansion, the majority of the gold making is in the first few weeks. People are rushing to level their professions and be the first to craft the current uber whatsit… So I sell them my gathered items at inflated prices. Over time, it comes down.
I can still make some money gathering and I like spending Sunday afternoons doing so but it has decreased a lot. The event crates (theater, lights in Hallowfall, special events, etc…) still net me about 10K a week on each character and I combine that with Wax turn-ins and gathering.
I like the fact that mostly nobody has any rebuttal to this.
Either you sweat your soul out to grind out that crafting…or just do what I do.
Have a bunch of gatherers and exploit the market by…figuring out how to make money by normally buying and selling material components that the people crafting need to make their stuff. I have five crafters and only one of them is even close to making money off of it…
I have 10 crafters and each one of them can earn a solid 40k off an hour of farming, minus that potion that lets you see the camoflauged ores and herbs.
Particularly Ores. The most in demand material in the game. Both of my main miners can make about 60k from an hour of farming.
But that’s nothing. I think Blizzard might actually be trying to do a hard reset of the entire gold market.
Notice there are no tokens. I know that there are other reasons for that as well, but I can’t help but think it was intentional.
