How are you supposed to get gear if you never win?

Seriously how much am I supposed to queue up to keep losing bgs? I get that rng is rng but after losing 5 games in a row, swapping to alliance, losing that, then back to horde and losing again, there isn’t much incentive to actually hop into bgs.

Every bg has almost always been a stomp. I’m even a healer that’s super low geared and I’m out healing 200ilvl healers. I literally cannot impact a game enough to win to get pvp gear in any reasonable amount of time. You get like 100 honor per lose and you lose every damn game.

Start and finish your covenant campaign, get anima and upgrade all the gear to 197. Lots of anima from sanguine depths quest and raid finder Sire. With full 197 gear join yolo RBGs to get conquest/fat honor. Spamming normal random BGs outside of the first win of the day is pointless imo. I went from fresh 60 - 208 in a week. As a healer you will have an easy time getting into groups.

Swapping to merc alliance is just asking to lose. Horde has more and better pvp players so the horde will mostly be better geared. But the queue times are faster. It’s a tough. I recommend switching to either ret or prot when you do BG’s. Their is only a certain amount of healers allowed in a BG and you being at 21k hp is gonna do you’re winrate no favors. It puts you and the rest of you’re team at a massive disadvantage.

This dude is spot on. The time spent doing your cov quests to upgrade your gear to 197 is much less painful than the rando bg roulette. And yeah, as a healer, it’s much easier gearing up/getting into groups. I would not waste my time in rando bg’s.

Cov gear to 197, then rbgs and yolo lfg arena for conquest. If you are a decent healer you should have no prob finding a decent dps to farm some conq. with.

Ah, yes… Because everyone knows the best way to have fun with casual BGs is to spend weeks for renown 22, 3k - 5k soul ash, and 5+ hours of max level questing. Then waste time with either toxic or completely Yolo RBG groups for weeks to get a few Vault pieces…

How could we possibly forget about all of THOSE joyous “opportunities” for each character we just want to play BGs on (and not get global’d)? I guess I better get back to all of that fun BS.

OP, Don’t let anyone troll you with this “just keep suffering through it” BS. While PvE will give you a less painful route to gearing, if what you want is casual PvP, wow is sadly not your game right now. A lot of people feel the same way that you do.

I don’t think anyone really likes this being the optimal way to enter pvp, but, Mindgames is giving OP solid advice to overcome the gear discrepancies a bit faster so that he CAN do some pvp.

I get it… Let me frame this up a bit… Say someone wanted to buy a car… What Mindgames is eluding to would be the same as a dealership saying “well we don’t have a car per se for X $, but we have a van for X+10k $ that you’d love!!”

I agree… sure, PvE gives a route to gearing up. But it’s absurd to attach the fastest route to PvP gearing to the opposite side of the content spectrum.

Op here. I’m not a complete potato guys. I should have been clear in my original post, I know what the optimal route is to gear up. I don’t want to do that. I just want to heal some bgs and get some gear, but it’s literally not possible.

It’s not possible at all. I’ve played 18 bgs today

13 on horde. I won 2
5 on alliance. I won 0

I’m usually top heals, if not I’m close and I play the objective. This system is frustrating and I’m not going to continue

This Paladin currently has 48 hours played at lvl60. This is my 3rd Holy Paladin, here’s what I do:

-Buy all the 168 blue BoE’s at 60.
-Heal all 8 M0 dungeons
-Farm the 2 pvp trinkets
-Heal 2 lvl8 Torghasts (that plus the initial 200 ash quest gets you your 190 Holy shock leggo)

Once I’m around 175-180 start doing RBGs/arena. Currently sitting on 1500ish conquest with 3 choices in the vault for Tuesday.

Then basically just go from there.

This is where pvp still seems even. There are the 50 tryhards right before hitting lvl 51, but overall, it feels like the leveling bracket pvp system is the most balance.

I am sure the stat will get better once you play more than 5 games mate

it’s usually pretty close to a 50% win ratio regardless of faction

I’m not going to lie, I am sick to death of my Horde compatriots. BGs are full of people that appear to have never seen or participated in a bg before and Blizzard just added them in 9.0.5.

Sub LFR quality players are infesting random bgs because it drops gear that allows them to do WQs without dying 20% of the time. Every single random bg is Horde with an average of 27k hp and alliance rocking the 35k+ hp. For the first time in my playing career am I just leaving bgs. So annoying to be seeing so many obviously dumb people in bgs.

Half of them are terrified of dying in game, the other half needs to work a target dummy for about 3 months.

Hey guys so just an quick update, I decided to grit my teeth and play through a bunch more games.

Almost every single game I, the ilvl 156 holy pally, top heals in these bgs. I play the objective when I’m not getting zoned. Here is a result of my games.

Horde 23 games
6 wins
17 losses

Alliance 6 games
0 wins
6 losses

I’ve come to the realization that there is no god and there is some cosmic force out to get me. That is all.
