How are you supposed to get a cast off vs a dk?

I was actually thinking about aff/ele and how 1 dispel would straight up silence you, knock you up in the air, and wipe out 40% of ur hp (combining both UA dmg and flame shock dmg). Maybe it’s one way aff can shine in 9.1.

Maybe watch some high end players that seem to always win tournaments as wizard cleave, ranged dps will always be at an advantage in arena

Between uhdk and paladins, spriest is going to be tough to play next patch

aff is looking to do good as long as sacrolash slow didnt hurt them too much. Idk if lock/sham/x will be that great since there isnt good snares. Lock will have higher dot dmg. Higher single target burst and pressure when left to cast and really big shadowbolts. Their whole kit got better except for the sacrolash nerf. Maleific rapture nerfs wont matter cuz their shadowbolts and dots a are doing a lot which will give them kill pressure a lot. I think theyre going to need to play with classes with good slows though. Maybe uh dk will go really well with them.

You know locks have slows right

You’d still have good snares if you play the corrupt leggo that extends curses. You could pretty much almost retain the value that sacrolash gave but by spending 1 extra global. It’ll definitely hurt to spend an extra global everytime to apply curse of exhaust, but I’d presume pressure will be slightly higher due to increased DoT dmg and higher haste from gear.

But the main drawback to aff rn is survivability. Sure the mobility is great, but you still feel like wet paper against all melee. If next patch is extremely melee dominant, you’d have no choice to play with hybrids like ele/sp once again.

This isn’t entirely true. Skill Capped and C9 have been the only teams that consistently found success playing their wizards because they excel at it and no one can really play that comp as good as them.

The advantage is their experience on the comp and their comfort level playing it. It’s not about ranged dps in particular, but ofc having a mage on your team IS an advantage in this meta nonetheless.

You don’t. Ooga booga

What is their 3rd stun?

Pet stun, dk stun, frostwyrm stun.

During all those stuns and interrupts where are your teammates?

Didn’t they say unholy? If so they don’t have frostwyrm.

Last two expansions have heavily favored wizards, watching cdews team last night it’s practically unwinable with mages/shadowp/boomkins being so tanky. It’s pretty brutal watching them get nuked from 40yards away with almost no counterplay since ranged has such an advantage

lets not get ahead of ourselves
I concede that mage/lock were quite dominant but arms, dk, dh, ww and mut were all S-tier for the most part of the expac
sprinkle in guardian and prot paladin for those high IQ tank/dps cleaves

what advantage is that? the far steeper learning curve where getting good actually is relatively rewarding compared to, for example, ret, with the depth of my empty goldfish bowl?

Pet stun is unholy dragon stun is frost

Sp and boomkin will be a lot more easier to kill in 9.1. Mages not so much until they get a triune nerf or if all of the shields can be dispelled together. Destro/mage is probably the only wizard comp which could be very devastating to play vs next patch.

Legion did not favor wizards that much iirc. Only wizard that was remotely as threatening and annoying as BFA’s version of MLD was probably destro splay. Surprisingly, Legion turned out to be one of the better expansions which had a fair balance of compositions which were represented on high ladder player and tourney play as well.

Melee have really good uptime and mobility that they’ve never had in previous expansions. Only issue is that some of the ranged casters are just way more tankier than they’re supposed to be.

They have ACCESS to all of those but they won’t be able to use all of those at once since each one costs a pvp talent slot and the 4 grips will cost a pvp talent and a leggo.

But yeah, they are getting some huge anti-caster stuff

I mean are you calling cdew, mes, and trill not good players? The games last night were pretty much unwinable vs spriest/boomkin… getting nuked down from two sides 40yards away not sure how they can balance around that it’s difficult

Calling it now: At the 11th hour of 9.1 release the devs sneak the old Conflag root effect back into the game, just to make sure Shadow Rift is always a success. “We removed that miserable Corruption slow for y’all and replaced it with something even more infuriating you’re welcome.”

i rather fight a dk than fighting a warr with mass spell reflect, kick, stormbolt, overwatch and swap to def stance when the cast go off and take 0 dmg
