How Are You Supposed To Complete Profession W/O Quests?

Has anyone fooled around with the work order stations yet?

I have a JC quest to fulfill 5 public or personal work orders and when I am at the crafting table I see ZERO for any category or specific gem.

So then I went to the artisan hub instead and tried to submit a person w/o to myself and my alt. Both times it said cannot complete despite having all the mats and putting in a commission. Then another try said reached maximum allowed??? When I never even successfully did any??

How are we supposed to complete 5 for the quest to get 3 additional knowledge then, if no one has anything listed and you cant use the personal option? Not sure if I’m doing something wrong or if some kind of bug.

I’ve been filling them for Inscription and Tailoring. The issue is people are posting horrendous commissions but we have no choice but to accept to complete the quest. I think Blizzard should implement a minimum somehow to certain items.

I also completed the quest using my guild mates. I would trade them the mats and they would put in a Guild or Personal order for some random stuff for me to complete.

It did take a bit to see public work orders show up, I don’t think people are using them much right now.

That’s the free market for ya.

I feel like since so many folks want to level professions it’s a buyers market, which is why I’m going double gathering for now. Leveling crafting professions doesn’t seem worth it too much.

Like someone on my realm was trying to sell a ring for 50K. Well some other JC who wants the craft will gladly take a lower commission.

Do you need to be a certain lvl in your prof to see them?
I am 25-35 in each prof and about 20-25 specialty points but nothing shows up…my server is dead but I was under impression the AH is connected now? I assume it’s same for work orders, I hope.

Has anyone tried to circumvent this by using an alt?

So try and have an alt send a craft order to your main? You’ll make no commission but you’ll level up I imagine.

I didn’t start using the work orders until I was “maxed” at level 65. Now I can only increase my skill from the BoP recipes that I have to fill for others. But nobody is posting them or wanting to waste their bi-weekly Spark, so personally I’m stuck now.

I don’t know if work orders are connected. I’m going to assume they’re not solely because I only see less than 5 orders for Inscription. With the weekly knowledge book I would expect to see hundreds if they were connected.

Sounds like exploiting to me

No, it’s just you using a shell company lol.

But what’s stopping you from making a personal order on your alt to your main? Doesn’t seem like an exploit.

Say my mage is a tailoring main, my priest “needs” a robe.

At least for public commissions that’s basically free money. You’re not using your own mats. So if you can get a public commission I’d take it.

Not gonna risk a ban over a work order.

It’s not an exploit but fully intended. Remember there is a 20g fee for the work order.

If the game lets you do that, it’s probably fine. You can’t purchase your own auctions with an alt, after all.

I highly doubt that lol.

I don’t think you’ll get banned for fulfilling you’re own work order. Besides you need a mess of mats to even do that.

Well if you try it then us know haha

It was explicitly discussed in the beta forums and in their blogs IIRC. You’re 1000% allowed to do work orders for your alts. If they didn’t want you to they would ban it.

Got a link?

Literally discussed here:

Blizz is well aware of the fact you can use work orders with alts. It doesn’t matter because the high end mats are still BOP. So you’re just wasting your mats if you do. It’s no different than making something and just mailing it. It’s literally not a problem. The system is working as intended.

I predict it will be more used once the start-of-expansion gold rush calms down and people can better afford materials. People are scalping the absolute hell out of profession equipment and materials, so if you don’t have an army of alts (or a guild, I guess, for the weird socialites) to do all your crafting for you, you’d spend most of the money you earned leveling from 60-70 just getting dressed up for work.

It’s all a little absurd right now. Once the bank goblins amass their fortunes, things will probably get cheaper for the average player.

The quest text literally says for yourself/personal if you want…that’s why the option is there I assume in the artisan drop down.
