I guess i missed why EoGS is a central problem. Is that something they’re forcing us to play?
I primarily PvP- 3s, RBGs, and blitz. The little damage buffs help, but I still would rather just have old primordial wave. And losing ancestral guidance is ouchies, the little buff healing totem got does not feel like it offsets losing a big defensive.
Are you taking the 3% reduction in school magic? Just trying to understand. I had been Resto so the elemental life is new to me.
Ive dropped my shaman this season, I hate the PW change
It’s only in PVE. But yes, it a significant damage decrease to not take EoGS
I don’t take the 3% dmg reduction. With 2piece tier and 2 pets we should get a steady 5% dmg reduction across the board. You’re better off taking the talent that enhances our interrupt which reduces spell school dmg by 15%(?) and stacks twice.
With lightning bolts and pvp talent cooldown on interrupt is easily sub 10sec cooldown. Probably more like 8 second cooldown. It feels a little absurd sometimes lol. I’ve interrupted Spriest and Druid cycle like 4 times in a row bc interrupt feels like it’s always available.
I geared my shaman for resto and my dps is a hunter this tier. I’m not raiding with that pw.
I just hate the lightning rod mini game. I get that it’s a skill expression thing, but I find it annoying having to constantly target swap. I almost wish it was limited to one target at a time and buffed accordingly for better focus damage.
I feel EoGS only exists to add complexity for the sake of complexity to the aoe rotation but whatever. It can feel weird to be pressing earth shock when you want to aoe, especially in lowish keys, but in higher keys the extra ramp time isnt an issue.
At this point I’ve accepted that ele isn’t meant to flame shock spread like enh so I’m fine with using PWave. It’s not like there is much reward for having a bunch of flame shocks out which I’m fine with because as mentioned before, tab target gameplay is annoying and ele has no good way to spread.
The biggest thing that may drive your enjoyment of ele is how much you enjoy being a CD reliant class. For those 18 seconds of ascendance you’re a god, but outside of it your damage is low.
Sad thing there is no alt elemental build. It’s pwave and liquid magma totem (if it wants to work half the time) if you need to spread pwave.
“I am upset I can’t just hit one button”
Only for 1-3 mob pulls. For most pulls your damage is not low, even outside of ASC.
You don’t use either in m+/ae.
I’m not upset I can’t press one button.
One of the best versions of this spec that existed in Mplus was Farseer last season. We can no longer play that. It’s a play style that’s been taken away. There is zero reason I shouldn’t be able to play that and it was far from one button.
I really don’t appreciate the derogatory comment. But since we are throwing out insults. Judging by your experience in both PVE and PVP I am a much better player than you are.
Go bully people in the Shaman discord where you belong.
The meatball spec was not from last season. It was from DF.
Look, I dislike what happened to PWave.
But the meatball spec was literally “press lavaburst as many times in a row as possible, try not to press anything else”
Akston said best. Ele with CDs also performs way better if packs are up for a good amount of time and in 10s with some of the gear people have, packs melt before Asc falls off.
Best thing I did for myself doing pug keeys was getting a WA that does a small say for when Ascendance has 30 seconds on it’s CD and when its off CD.
Ain’t no way you, the resident “Pwave bad, red chain lighting and vesper totem good, why blizzard force pwave” guy, has been trying to play Pwave + LMT in M+ during the season you absolutely want to drop those.
I mean that Farseer in M+ last season was only a thing when we had FoL still, which was just as degenerate and negative for the spec as Meatball builds.
I remember counting how many times in a row I would press LB or CL.
It was insane. And bad.
Cannot switch to my Shaman again, but I have tried Elemetal when I received a staff as off spec in Heroics. I tired both Farseerer and Stormbringer, and so far in Delves, and M+ I found Elemental to do well.
As Melee this season, I feel Blizzard decided to up the anty a lot. As melee you have so many mechanics and things to avoid. I find being range is so much easier. This is for both my Hunter and Shaman. Being range is far less stressful, and even though my Elemental build does a bit less than my Totemic build in M+, the ease of not having my head on a swivel is worth it.
Will keep plugging away, but I find Elelmental to not be in a bad spot for M+. I still raid as Enhance Totemic, so I cannot comment on how Elemental is on raids. Perhaps if we do a Normal into Heroic as we have been doing, I’ll try Farseer for the normal part.
No, you could play Farseer in Mplus and be competitive with Stormbringer after the FoL change. I did 13s and 14s as Farseer last season and had no problem clearing the content and typically competed for the top spot in DPS. Also, I was one of the few people here on the forums providing feedback that FoL was toxic to the spec.
I clearly wasn’t referring to the meatball build from DF S3 and S4 (and also S3 & S4 of SL). I was responding to your statement that I only want to press one button by telling you that I enjoyed playing Farseer last season. To address you and another person’s comments, if you check my play history you would know I played Farseer build long after the FoL change.
What I am trying to tell you is that Farseer took a massive hit this season because of the Pwave change. That play style is gone and we are left with one option that isn’t fun. Which is the point of this thread.
Yeah Ele is getting clobbered in raids. On pull I can shoot to the top of the charts getting 4 mil + at times but the longer the fight goes the further I move towards the tanks🤣
Because I’m a huge scrubnoob.
I mean there was a lot of gameplay focused players providing feedback FoL bolt spam was as toxic as Meatball spam since they are mirrors of the same issue: Spam [Insert Generator] because the interactions/talents related to other spells were gutted + tier sets benefits one side.
Fair enough. My vitriol towards FoL gameplay leads me to forget that when somebody talks about Farseer M+ they’re not only talking about pre-11.0.5 gameplay, so it was an error on my part. Pre-Rework Farseer M+ and Post Rework Farseer M+ build playstyles are indeed different and we may have missed that he was talking about Post Rework
But the point stands that a reason the Pwave change is butt since there are a good amount of players who would opt to play Pwave + LMT with Stormbringer in season 1 post-rework. I would prefer it in pugs even though even though I was able to play EB + Echoes properly and crank more on overall. It was nice just always having LvB cleave and LMT AoE damage for every pack and having a good amount of resources going into every pack, and you’re not boned as much from things like how your tank is pulling and whatnot so it was nice if you wanted to turn your brain off a bit or for players that have a hard time playing EB + Echoes but still want to play the game. But take my statement with a grain of salt that I spam M+ early season and then swap to only 8 +10s a week since I don’t have the time to push keys while raiding. Typically, I have minimal experience pushing higher.
In PvP the latest damage changes made it tolerable but the PW change still makes it play like hot garbage.
