How are they gunna keep people playing classic?

TBH I doubt people will be able to manage 40 man raids haha it’s hard enough getting a solid mythic raid teams numbers together in retail with a big guild.

Plus it’ll be worse in once all the phases are done when all the groups have all bosses on farm and there’s no new content coming because it’s vanilla and staying vanilla, unless they release stuff like TBC (which I don’t think they mentioned anything about) and the like over time I don’t see it lasting. Once you are fully geared how many times can you run the same raid with 0 upgrades available without giving up?

I was sad that I started in Feb 06 and hit max level a month before people gave up raiding to go do AV to get the PVP gear for leveling gear for TBC, all I got to do was a few ZG bosses but with BfA raiding idk that i’ll have time to raid in classic. Sadly I also missed out on all but Kara and Gruul in TBC and I wish I could do all of that haha

Shhh, we’re busy panicking about name reservations. Don’t go distracting people with panicking about 2021.

How are they going to keep us playing Classic?

Give us Classic.

They could extend the events longer than what they usually went for or cycle in the past events active again like the opening of Ahn-Qiraj doesn’t have to be a one time thing, it could come and go once a year.

Your looking at the situation far to narrowly. Classic won’t have many Retail players in it for too long, we call you guys tourists for a reason.

Classic is a very different game to retail, raiding is different, guilds are different, socialization is different. There are many people like myself who look at modern WoW as an abomination and have returned to WoW solely for classic.

It’ll be only the really ‘dedicated’* (cough) people raiding past a few months.

*like the poster above me^ lol. Look for key words like “abomination,” “retail casuals,” etc.

PvP doesn’t get old for lots of people. You would have a massive advantage if you had BiS nax gear.

You’ll keep paying and playing and raiding for 5 or 10 years in classic once your already fully geared though?

I don’t overly like retail myself and just log in to raid xD but still no new stuff and i’d get bored or fed up eventually.

The same way the private servers have kept up populations for years. People dig it. They keep finding more to do. New people decide to try it. It’s gonna be fine.

Fair point

People have been playing and raiding on private servers for the past 10+ years.

I played originally from first day release, right up until Blizzard removed Talent trees. My main toon had 189 days played time and I had several alts with over 100 days.

In 5 years time if Classic is still here without having been butchered, hell yeah I’ll still be here, because raiding wasn’t just about gear. Raiding for gear alone is part of where retail lost it’s way.

10 years time ? who knows to honest, so many things could happen by then. Blizzard might see the mistakes they made over the last ten years and actually craft an expansion that expands the game, not strips it down more each cycle.

Either way, as long as Classic is here, Blizzard can have my money again, and i’m obviously not the only one. While there’s money to be made, Blizzard will keep going, so who knows.

Have you ever stopped think about WHY its hard to get a mythic raiding guild together in retail? Maybe do that before making insane comparisons

Yeah I didn’t really have internet until a friend gave me a trial of WoW and all I knew of Warcraft was Warcraft 2 from the macs at school years before

Hoping to try my hand at raiding in classic and was just concerned the raiding might fizzle out and be hard to find groups/guilds for by the time I hit that point was all

Don’t sweat it. There are going to be plenty of groups to play with after you’re done leveling.

My biggest advice is to level slowly. Enjoy all the little nooks and crannies. Don’t try to race to 60, or you really will have a lot of time standing around.

Raiding will be there when you’re ready!

Everything about this post is correct.

Well, for me, I just love classic. I will stay interested for decades.

It will probably have like a 2-3 year life span, and by then the guilds that have what it takes to do AQ and Naxx will have done it (probably like 10-20%), and the rest just won’t have what it takes and will probably never get there. Then they’ll release TBC servers and 80% of the players will be ready for something new and head over there, leaving behind mostly dead servers, which they’ll probably merge to keep the museum going.

You got 10 (classes) and 3 specs each to try out, so there’s a good option for alt-a-holics.

Except in vanilla only one spec pretty much for each class was viable :frowning: if you weren’t that spec you weren’t allowed to do the content because all the groups refused to take you
