Greed? Apathy? Both?
Both? Both is good.
I’m curious what is enabling them. Like are there THAT many people buying gold or are these bots for regular players that funnel the gold to their real accounts?
It’s hard to imagine that many people are buying enough gold to support this.
They use all kinds of bots / scripts / programs to manage the market value of items with AH manipulation. Many of them have fortunes of gold to make correction on the AH when prices become undesired. The bots are fighting the bots for control of our market.
So what happened is, a ishh ton of every day players spent hour upon hours farming just to find out the market over saturated and artificially inflated. Which means the farming they did is severely insignificant in terms of value on the market. The players need things and they do it by any means necessary. Some found out they’re 30 hours a week of farming isn’t fruitful compared to working 5 hours of a normal job and paying for gold.
Its really not classic today is more popular than it was 15 years ago and back then you could make 7-800 dollars a week selling gold. So I would assume they are making more money now than before
Blizzard is not doing anything so they can later announce their solution to the bot problem: aka WoW tokens.
This company’s greed know no bounds.
Yes, you can’t buy gold with rl money unless it’s from blizzard then they are all for it
It’s very cynical, but at this point maybe it’s a possibility. Drive up outrage against bots to validate adding wow tokens to classic and then ban bots.
The point of the tokens is to put a high end value on the price of gold. If it’s too high underground Rwt continues.
lvl 55 hunter in frostwhisper, logs in every 12 minutes and sits on one of the pillars where the giants won’t aggro. Lvl 55 hunter in the dragon cave in WS. These characters run a VERY exact route to the spawns that avoids aggro perfectly. As they move the movement is not fluid in any way, very right angle blocky and jittery movement as the software adjusts. Rogue in the yeti cave to sap and mine. Mage in owl wing thicket 24/7 killing mobs in an exact pattern. 1-2 mages in the hidden grove area grinding owlkin. Mages ALL OVER the shore in azshara grinding for pearls in an exact pattern 24/7. Hunters in Azshara running directly to up spawns with that same jittery movement around mobs. Lotus farmers running the same jittery movement in a perfect route, never deviating at all. The strat, zg, DME hacks… It’s beyond obvious.
Both.
Blizzard just wants to max profits with minimum effort, and so far they are doing so beautifully.
you cant claim that as its a retail issue aswell, these 5 have been getting the same insta spawn mobs for days now stopping every 30 mins to sell items on a vendor mount

in retail it really isnt worth it to bot since the value of gold isnt that high, the vast majority of gold is used for cosmetic items, which is much different than classic. gold sellers get banned a lot more than bots, because they are easier to detect. as long as people are buying gold, sellers will always be there. and sellers need gold farmers and bots to operate.
says who? with gold you can buy tokens then use tokens to get games and expansion to sell for real money hence why they do it. I can buy cod cd key for 40 bucks from there website while blizz is charging 95.95
what I meant was you dont need gold to advance your character besides maybe repairs and stuff. yes bots get gold for the tokens or else there wouldnt be bots. devalue gold and you get less bots. tokens dont even need to be used to buy expansions, that was a desperation move on the part of blizzard to get people to play retail and their other games.
I wont disagree with you that it doesnt help advance your char in retail as much but botting is still just as bad in numbers in retail for the reasons given above
You ignore a cancer, it spreads. The funny thing is that the biggest counter for all the cheaters will end up being the cheaters themselves. Most of them are here to sell gold, and that market has been thoroughly pillaged at this point. Gold is already worth less than toilet paper at this point. When there’s no realms left to plunder; some of them are bound to abandon this dried up husk of a market and go infect other games instead.
There is ONE upside to multibox cheating. If they queue BGs on the alliance side; it would help our queue situation. Sadly, I’ve only ever seen ONE multiboxer on the alliance side in a BG. This was out of only TWO in total; the other being an unhelpful horde side multiboxer. He only made our queues worse. So… if you’re going to multibox BGs… at least go alliance. Thanks.
