How are the darkspears not extinct?

A few thousand you mean. The scar wouldn’t be that big if it was just “A few”. Look at any zombie movie and see how much 1 zombie can accomplish. Filthy orc. Without the rest of the horde you would be nothing

It was Murlocs, Humans and a Naga Sea Witch that almost wiped the Darkspear.

Having settled on the Darkspear islands, the tribe soon found themselves entangled in a conflict with a group of murlocs. Eventually they also found new enemies in humans when a Kul Tiras-fleet landed on the island in search for some orcs who had stolen some ships. The trolls’ fate seemed sealed until the orcish Warchief Thrall and his band of newly freed orcs, which were the orcs the humans were looking for, took shelter on the island after a heavy storm. The orcs managed to defeat the humans, but their victory was short-lived. Controlled by a Sea Witch, the Underworld Minions captured the Darkspears’ leader Sen’jin along with Thrall and several orcs, trolls and humans. They were all brought to a complex prison made by caves below the island. Thrall managed to free himself and his companions, but was ultimately unable to save the trolls’ leader. Although Sen’jin was sacrificed to the Sea Witch, he was able to reveal a vision he had in which Thrall would lead the Darkspear trolls from the island.

Also in Legion there’s a questline in Stormheim where a group of Murlocs wipe out an entire Vrykul Warrior settlement.

Murlocs can bring anything down :muscle:

Murlocs are an awesome foe

whatever helps you sleep at night, I can’t imagine being slaughtered by a couple ghouls.
Oh and you call me filthy, at least I have the decency to wear clothes you emo

Did you play WoW before they nerfed mobs? Ever go to a murloc spawning zone?

If you have, you wouldn’t be saying that as a point of weakness.

Worgen, NIght Elves, and Void Elves all face the same problem as well. Logically speaking, they’ve killed off so many Gilnean Worgen that there basically shouldn’t be any of them left, and Night Elves have recently been decimated in numbers (along with the Worgen population probably getting decimated too), and Void Elves are quickly becoming a meat grinder race as well.

All three races are also ones that are believed to have issues with reproduction on top of being killed off by the boatloads all the time. Void Elves are generally thought to be absolutely finite (and small) in number, Worgen are generally implied (and sometimes outright stated) to be absolutely finite in number, and I think Night Elves are also supposed to be mostly finite in number as well.

There is no logic behind any race regarding population as it’s literally just a bunch of nonsense with “There will always be enough” even in the face of races that cannot reproduce their numbers at all under any circumstances always being plentiful in number despite constantly being killed off in the hundreds and sometimes thousands (like with the Burning of Teldrassil and the events leading up to it where pretty much every single Night Elf in Ashenvale was killed by Horde assassins).

Maybe Blizzard will someday come up with explanations for at least some of these races when it comes to population.
