In my own experience:
Normal delves up to T8 are fine as compared to tanks and ranged DPS. T9+ have some pretty rough HP requirements due to guaranteed boss AOE damage, but aren’t impossible.
Zekvir ? is cake
Zekvir ?? is nearly impossible under 620 ilvl without some S+ tier luck.
Obey the item level recommendations to keep your self from stressing too hard.
No need to do above an 8 the next level will just give you the same gear with upgrades on it. You can save your self a hassle and just get the flightstones elsewhere.
Put Tricks of the Trade on Brann and make him a Medic.
any delve that doesnt have many kill requirements can be easily solo by rogue at T8, waterworks is a decent one. You just stealth past everything and sap the mobs on the objectives.
Some mobs with truesight can be sapped too and steath past without aggroing. The only difficult part would be fighting the end boss but it should be fine if you tricks healer bran and rotate your defensives. Doable in 600+ ilevel.
If you want to punch above your level in Delves as a Rogue do the following:
Trickster feels pretty good in Delves.
Not sure if I’d say it’s as effective as my VDH or surprisingly; disc priest but I’m mopping up 10’s and the mini bosses below the recommended item level range, so can’t be all that bad.
Elusiveness plus the stagger effect from Killing Spree just makes a lot of the big boss aoe damage a lolcow too.
There’s some incredibly solid advice in this thread! Delves can definitely be tough as a solo Rogue, so don’t beat yourself up if it takes a little bit to get into the groove~
605+ ilvl for 11’s is recommended for sure, but the bigger thing is knowing the Delves well.
Layout and route planning is like 60% of how well any 11’s go when I was doing them, I got the deathless achieve at 608 ilvl. Just wrapped up the 11’s in all delves at 618.
Plan defensives, saps, CC, all of it. Take it slow. Bring consumables. Health potions. Both of them. Cavedeweller’s potions are on the battle potion CD, so you can use 2. They are intended to be marathons, not sprints.
Recorded and posted myself completing it for the second time at 613 ilvl, rank 2 enchants and consumables, the DF augment rune, suboptimal stats, running trickster outlaw, and having some patience. It’s somewhat luck based on the P2 abilities not being offset stupid, but absolutely doable under 620 and without some god tier luck.
I have an easier time with Rogue than any other class I’ve done them with. Blood DK was comparable, but extremely slow. Rogue, you just tricks Brann and zerg things. Interrupt casts. CC if they decide to ignore the aggro table as they do.
As I said above, just buy health pots. Both of them. Your survivability in all content increases a dumb amount with them in your pocket.
As a rogue you’re the most squishy leather wearer there is, so expect it to be challenging to the point where some area impossible.
Due to the very limited self heals we have, and how hard the mobs hit, to be honest it’s not very fun to solo as a rogue. As a group it’s hella fun since you can keep pumping that dps, but as solo you probably spend 50% of your time just trying to stay alive. I’m not comparing it to Tanks/Healers type staying alive since it’s infinitely easier for them, for us it’s literally oh my god i gotta use my only potion.
I tried doing every delve solo including 11 - I was able to succeed but the gear requirement is very high (like fully heroic gear and upgraded 80%). Different delves will have different difficulty with some obviously easier than others. However the main point is - Majority of them still take you out very easily, and you’ll find you’re going to be playing a game of cat and mouse with Brann doing the majority of the work and you hiding.
I’ve been using a non-lethal poison and blind AoE debuff talent. I think it’s good practice for rogue to more proactively use feint and kite and etc. After the initial challenge, it’s a bit of a chore to go through them.
Would you guys say, playing delv as a rogue is closer to pvp then pve ?
Higher Delves as Rogue are closer to the older Thief games: Planned and measured approaches to encounters, with some forethought required for success.
When I solo a delve with my Rogues, it feels like I have to use every trick I have to make it. When I solo a delve with my Hunters, I feel like “that’s it?”. So yeah, they feel like a struggle in comparison.
No.
With Delves you have a hierarchy of mobs on your must-kill list.
With PvP you roll a random dice to see if the Monk you’re attacking is still in quest greens or a PvP god with all his CD’s ready.
Politely disagree here. The boss is almost impossible because he has guaranteed melee attacks in between his CD’s, which are much lower than yours. It’s not impossible with a higher ilvl but it’s a headache. Same with the very first delve you ever do with the spider lady.
@OP, in my experience the best delves are ones with bosses who habe mechanics. The underwater one with the guy who spawns shrooms and the other one with the Nerubian who goes underground and has a front-facing AoE attack immediately come to mind. Brann being a healer and higher level is a must.
Quite fine since the nerfs ? week 2? and the bug squashes. You are, however, more or less forced to spec defensively. I don’t use tricks of the trade since I find it too cheeseball. Outlaw and Sub should have no problems as long as you spec for solo PvE.
people have been soloing since week 2. You used to be able to just get dps bran to full tank for you. They nerfed bran but also nerfed the mobs too, now its very managable with just healer bran.
I disagree with this. As an Outlaw rogue I was able to get T11 delve with no death achievement and Zek’vir ?? At ilvl 610ish.
Trickster at the very least is a bit of a cheat code in normal Delves, and Outlaw is adequately equipped to beat Zek’vir.
You have to Tricks to Brann. If the boss is melee attacking you it will be rough maybe impossible.
I also suggest double Vanish talent.
The rest of a bosses attacks should be manageable with Elusiveness and double Feint as long as you are drinking Brann’s potions everytime. If your dps is too low you may lose the attrition war admittedly.
