How are random BGs? Is it one sided?

I’ve come back from a break and the question I have is are the random BGs just stomp fests? Is it completely one sided for the factions?

I’d love to play but don’t want to waste my time leveling and getting gear if this is the case.

It depends.

Sometimes you can get a team of geared people who are able to pull their weight and sometimes you get people in pve gear.

And you might run into premades to.

The matchmaking tries its best especially in blitz.

In randoms however Its usually just open season you can get 38 dps 2 tanks and 0 healers.

10 mans are premade city and sweaty like rbgs. Epics are fun when it’s similar numbers of a premade on both sides. If it’s only a premade on one side sometimes it’s over quick. Best bet is crate farm groups in custom pvp. Get your gear fastest doing that.

It’s horrible most of the time.

You get entire raid groups using queue-syncing addons to get a full raid into an epic BG, and then they just stomp.

Match after match of this.

Then you get forums full of people who have never pvp’d outside of one of these groups swearing on a stack of bibles that it doesn’t happen and isn’t possible, that there are no such addons nor have there ever been, and yet, you can download the addons yourself and see.

Blizz refuses to address the problem beyond, once every so many years saying “yeah, that’s not supposed to happen, and we don’t want to see that”.

Hey Blizz, here’s the easiest solution to the problem: Instead of taking a pool of available players, then randomly picking a BG to put them in, how about when someone queues up, either solo or as a party, you do that last step first? When they queue, you pick a random BG to put them in, and then when enough people who are in that same BG pool are queued, you launch it as normal?

This would obliterate the queue syncing raids entirely and permanently, because they would NEVER be able to pool together to get into the same BG again.

Pretty much. It’s a mixture of premades and the occasional noob with half health.

My experience the last few days has been nothing short of premades in EBG’s and Random BGs.

Also keep seeing people in DF season 1 gear.

Not fun.

I think the gear floor should be higher. Fighting people with 6mil health feels like bullying.

In terms of chill aspect, 10-15 mans definitely reek of smurfs running FoM alts dominating people, using potions, buffs, gliders, what have you. Hard to relax.

On the bright side, it doesn’t seem like any one faction is dominating. Farming War Crates are going to be harder on horde though.

They’re fun when neither side is a sweaty 5-man premade in Discord but the odds of this happening is so low, take that as you will, they’re random for a reason.

This is simple… If 5 people que together for a random bg, and those 5 people are all in a 2.4k experience only guild… What do you think’s going to happen in that Twin Peaks, or Silvershard mines? Thats right, the opposing team is going to get their heads caved in and its going to hurt. There’s no stop for this… Unless you want Blizz to get rid of being able to que as 5 together… but at that point… what are we even doing?

My guess is for epic BGs this would make queue times noticeably longer. If it’s random it could assign people to all 4 epic BG maps when there aren’t enough players to fill them. However, very Interesting idea with cross faction.

I’d love to get back into the PvP scene but is it really such a one sided coin toss?

Currently leveling but I don’t want to continue if it’s like 20 games and all of them are stomp fests :joy:

Oh, look.

It’s another proponent for unrestricted premades, making the same tired argument “oh, you can use voice too!”

No one uses the wow voice. Many have tried to get pugs to use it. They won’t. They don’t.

It’s not the groups of 5 that people are complaining about. It’s the RAIDS of people queueing together that is ruining pvp.

Yes. They do it. Daily. You can join discord groups, download addons, and even ask every butter-coated gnome in Goldshire about it.

It’s not something that they’re supposed to be able to do, which is the point.

At first this may be the case, but as more people realize that the premades are gone, the pvp population would likely increase again.

I mean, look at the original system, where each battleground had numbered instances, and each player was randomly assigned to one. The big mistake was showing that to players, so they could queue into specific matches. There would usually be dozens of each BG active at any given time.

Also, and a bit off-topic, is anyone else sick of getting into crushed matches? Someone bails, you get to join and there’s no chance of winning even if 3/4 of the other team goes AFK? Could we have a little "your BG has popped, but it is not a fresh match, would you like to join anyway? option? Perhaps grant a bit of bonus honor for saying yes?

Still not sure why gear is even a thing in PvP. Nobody likes to be undergeared in PvP and nobody likes fighting with or against players without gear. It should really just be you get a template and use honor/conquest to adjust your secondary stats to however you want, get gems, enchants etc

The “gear progression” in pvp got really old a long time ago

I used to be big proponent for gear, but now I agree. Especially with how crate farms trivialize it. Might as well give gear for free. Maybe leave the sockets for progression. Add renown track.

Yeah, I don’t look forward to grinding it all out again each season. Makes it feel like a big chore. Your idea sounds like a nice compromise between Legion templates and what we have now.
