How are people getting mount right at 40?

I hit 30 and was at around 15 gold. Stopped leveling to grind fishing and alchemy. Been sitting at level 35 with just over 60 gold from selling potions and oils in the AH. Also fishing is stupid profitable. You can get some good stuff out of watertight trunks that vendor or sell on the AH

But are people actually buying it? Are there a bunch of people who aren’t bothering with professions until 40+? That’s the only way I could see anybody being able to afford that.

I am level 29 and have 30g right now. Once I hit 25, most of what I have been doing is farming beast mobs. Specifically, I’ve been farming the Black Ravagers in Duskwood. Skinning + Soft Patch of Fur is making me ~3-4 gold an hour assuming a good green or blue doesn’t drop. This has slowed down my leveling, but in vanilla I did not get my mount until level 50. I intend to switch to tigers in STV once I hit level 30ish.

I am also avoiding the AH like the plague. I will be too tempted to buy (like this hat I bought last night). In a new economy, I’m finding grinding to be the most surefire way to make gold. It hasn’t even been very boring because I really want to meet the 90g goal.

I farmed basilisks south of grom gol from 39-40 and didnt buy spells from 34 and vendored everything green I got and vendored the skins.

You’re not doing anything wrong quest silver increases as well as drops from mobs to vendor around lvl 35 your gold should inflate along with that stick to what you’re doing.

14 gold at 30 is not too bad. Farm high value mobs to level to 40 and you’ll get there easy.

Whew, it was tough.

Loot everything possible. At L37ish stop questing and just grind mobs for 2-3 levels. Loot everything, skin everything, and vendor everything. Even just mob grinding from 37-40 you can easily gain upward of 100 gold from vendoring greys.

Some mobs do have better loot tables as far as drop rates and vendor priced greys are concerned. Run a google or YouTube search and you’ll quickly discover which mobs, and where they are.

I looted everything and sold everything but cloth. My husband picked up skinning and mining and I picked up tailoring and enchanting. With our combined mats, I kept making small silk packs and sold them for 34s on the AH, as well as enchanting here and there for people. By the time we were 40 we had enough to buy mounts and training. We got lucky with some extra blues to sell as well, but it was basically a lot of tailoring.

I remember farming SM hard for blues to vendor back in the day. haha

I just wanted to say killmaim doesn’t have to drop from a rare. its a rare drop from the skeletons or ghouls in Raven hill Cemetery. I know that because while questing my hunter friend got it and traded to me.

Also, if the price of cloth bottoms out on the AH, Heavy bandages sell for more than two stacks of cloth. Make bandages and sell those, you will make back the cost of training AND free up bag space as you go.

They stop gaining XP and do activities that make money.

Grinding cloth mobs is a great way to make money. If you have skinning, grinding animals is okay, but right now things don’t sell in the AH too well. Not many people have ‘spending’ cash. I made about 20 gold from 20-30 by grinding mobs, skinning them, crafting leatherworking gear and vendoring it. I also cooked up the meat I harvested and surprisingly stacks of meat sell for double what armor does… armor was around 11-12 silver and the meat stacks sold for 19s. It was boring, but when it doubt, grind! Gold is just a number, a statistic, like experience points. Do an activity that earns it and you will accumulate it.

You don’t really make gold till after 30 anyway. Your at the right amount of gold for your level to have 90 at 40.

one word: Skinning.

I got mine at 44, just by questing, and holding off buying skills. I now have over 50g, and all my skills. Plus a Blazing Emblem to sell.

40+ gold gain ramps up.

LOL nice name and character look.

Skinning. Go to STV and farm raptors, cats, and basilisks.

go to that link and find where the mobs are at your level. Skin every single mob, and sell the leather in the AH. Every grind run, you should be getting ~100-120 heavy leathers, and ~40-60 thick leathers, and they amount alot at the AH. Sell everything else at the vendor. Except for green items that you will get.

I paid for my mount when I hit 40 and had 500g not long after I hit 60. Thank mage aoe grinding
