How are hunter pets going to work? Normalized or authentically-vanilla?

I’m curious if hunter pets are going to function as they did in Vanilla, or closer to the way they do on live. My hunter is only level 10, so I may learn this organically, but I haven’t yet. Will attack speed be normalized? Do you have to tame, learn skills, and abandon? Will there be incentive to tame specific rare pets, like better base attack speed?

Thanks

Joanna is currently in beta. I haven’t payed much attention to his pets for the few times I’ve checked in on him, but his pets have had a happiness meter.

Can’t speak to whether or not they are normalized.

WW112D?

What would 1.12 do?

Normalization happened in vanilla. Funny how all these things #nochanges aren’t just in black and white.

Pets still have attack speed yes

Pet attack speed wasn’t normalized until the 2.0.3 TBC patch. Pet movement speed and damage type, however, was normalized in 1.9. This means Broken Tooth and the ZG Bats will be the best pets for those interested in PvP as they should have their 1.0 second attack speed still in tact.

I know they have a happiness meter. Not sure if they level alongside the hunter as in they need to be out. If I recall back in Vanilla they gained experience like a normal character. I.E., if you put one away that was level 20 it stayed level 20 and needed to be leveled up even if you were already 60. That’s the way I remember it but I only played Hunter for about a month after hitting 60 before switching to main Priest by January 05.

By normalize do you mean the pet damage or tanking ability? I know that stats mattered through Vanilla?

Attack speed will exist, damage will be normalized. This means broken tooth, deathmaw and a ZG wind serpent will be your endgame goals

For leveling, Owl and Carrion bird (screech) are probably best. Boar will be good too for charge and tankyness. I personally prefer cats with faster attack speed, windserpent works too.
