Two things:
- The Horde spawn location is 30-40 seconds closer to Vanndar than the Alliance is to Drek.
- NPCs were scaled to P4 power levels, now we’re in P6 power levels.
Vann was dying in 6min in P4, too.
Even in Classic 2019, Vann was stupid easy because he does single-target melee and his only spell (a chain lightning if I recall) can be Grounded.
Meanwhile, Drek & Co all do a whirlwind which just blenders any melee. Then the Warmasters also charge and then whirlwind.
The idea was that the Horde base would be easy to take control of, but their leader would be a wrecking machine. While the Alliance base would be difficult to take, with their leader being a push-over.
…unfortunately, with Patch 1.8, Blizzard removed most of the PVE that forced the two sides to clash -get this: in the name of encouraging more PVP. Now we just zergrush to each other’s base and try and beat each other’s nuke.

Horde play to keep que times low, Ally fight mid and cause turtles.
Av is the only BG its more fun to be Ally.
What? The horde will play depending on what alliance does. No D? they will rush boss end game in 2mins. Play D, they will slow down the allaince rush and or wipe them at boss and then push or lose cuz some will run around like their head cut off.
AV is the best bg for alliance cuz they dont really want to pvp. Only a hand of guys stop at mid or play D.
This seems to be the meta. Horde seem to stick to their guns on the rush meta. I love it Horde act like salmon trying to get to spawn. They dont help their friends who getting picked from the school.
My fastest AV win was about 4 1/2 minutes actually. The counter is to have a hunter frost trap the entire narrow choke point using the rams to activate the traps at the bridge and before.
Because PvP is now all about PvE. People legit began to complain here on the forums when they did an AV that was more than 5 minutes long. That is only the current WoW playerbase that does that. All us legit WoW Pvpers we did lots of PvP back in the day to get our R14s and had tens of thousands of HKs before getting R14. used to see most people only getting to R14 after about 90,000+ HKs. Now it is able to be done in 5k HKs or so. You people complained about having to do PvP and so Blizzard nerfed it and made it lame and unfun so now no one does that AV PvP anymore cuz it got nerfed to be won in a couple of minutes.
I quit SoD. Failed game now. Most I know left SoD a few months ago and went straight back to WoW Ascension.
Plus I legit cannot play a shaman on SoD without being called a talentless PvPer who only plays a shaman to roll FoTM. Be cool to actually play a shaman without a bunch of people here nerd raging at you and calling you bad just because you do.
all I can say is that AV has been reworked multiple times over the years and they gave us the worst version of this bg possible for SoD.
