Let’s start off by saying that the Flagellation Rune is Discovered by both Horde and Alliance by going into Duskwood Crypts to kill a named lvl 25 Elite Mob with 2.5k HP, that does 120 Shadow Damage Shadow Bolt, and has a 12 second DoT that does 26 damage per tick.
This task doesn’t sound like any trouble for alliance, just a measly walk over from Stormwind with some guild mates.
But for horde, its a completely different story. We have 2 ways of getting to duskwood, one from Stranglethorn Vale or swimming along the shoreline from Stranglethorn Vale to Westfall to Duskwood.
- If you take the Stranglethorn Vale route, it’s filled with skull-level mobbed that will obliterate any level 25 character in less than 4 hits. You will spend more time death running to your corpse than actual doing the content.
- If you Swim along the shore line, not only do you need to dodge the skull-level mobbed along the beach and in the water. You have to dodge the opposite faction, as it’s quite near Deadmines, a popular dungeon for beginning alliance players. Which is major trouble on a PvP server.
Then when you finally get to the crypt, it’s more hurdles. Skeleton mobs that are level ranges from level 25-29, averaging 27. Two level higher than the max level cap of 25. There are a bunch of alliance at the crypt too, The Crypts of Duskwood being the next popular questing for alliance after Westfall.
Just form a party and run into Duskwood. DUH
No one on the horde side is willing to run 30 minutes, even possibly 1 hour with the amount of death running to Duskwood. For what should be a 20-30 minute adventure across the lands of Azeroth.
If the blizzard team hotfixed Warlock Metamorphosis rune, they should definitely at least do something to lessen the pain for Horde for their Flagellation rune

It’s a wild oversight for the devs to make so many runes be in alliance zones only. It’s like whoever chose the location just looked at a list of level 20 contested zones and figured that they must be equally accessible since they don’t technically belong to either faction.
I did some of the pita lock runes today and, holy crap, it’s insane how convenient it is for alliance compared to horde. We had to do the stv to dusk wood wall, then into rrm, then hearth back to org, then walk all the way from xroads to northern darkshore. For alliance that would be like a rune being next to the sepulcher and in shimmering flats.
I dig a challenge, the new BFD is a great difficulty for classic, but the only thing hard about these runs is justifying spending that much time doing something so boring. Gotta form a group because the content isn’t soloable, gotta meet up, gotta travel the disgusting distance on foot, then knock out the actual task in less than three minutes.
It didn’t make for an epic journey moment, it was just really boring and a little frustrating knowing that if I picked human, I could’ve had it done in about 30 minutes.

Just type /who duskwood
and whisper everyone until you find a group. If nobody is there whisper /who c-warrior 20-25
and build a group bud.
It’s okay if it takes time to make friends and build a group.
What the rush?

I love listening to Horde cry about traveling in Classic.

alliance just straight up blockade entire entry points to these places on their turf, and because there’s clear alliance bias with the SoD team they outclass horde in pvp at a glance, so unless they don’t have hands, ret paladins kinda wafflestomp groups.
Also in raven hill they put the summon spot right behind a level 32 rare spawn that will actually heal to full if you don’t kill it fast enough or don’t have an interrupt (or it misses). Commander Felstrom in the western raven hill cemetery.

It’s a pretty miserable experience currently.
You run to duskwood and get it. I did it at lvl 22 with one other person. Not complicated
Have you tried finding the actual Horde rune source yet? Just how many runes are “Alliance favored” that were just found for Alliance first, and so all the Horde players dropped their search entirely and just went to get the Alliance source?

Oh no, part of the horde levelling and ability experience isn’t streamlined like the rest of their zones sans Mulgore.
Anyway.

Horde deserves to be brutalized for how they treat folks in Ratchet…
I literally don’t believe this until the devs confirm it.
They’re forcing PVP interactions either through the scuffed rep system that can only be effectively farmed in contested territory (favored by alliance of course).

Most likely they are bugged or they would be found by now. That’s how mmos work. That’s why metamorphosis was bugged.
Just roll a warlock, and create 2 more accounts with alts to summon your friends.
Realistically though, I think for either Alliance or Horde, it’s more likely that you’re going to go there and use /general
chat or use /LookingForGroup
to look for people to party up with if you can’t solo it.
Meta wasn’t bugged per se they just forgot to change the flag on the quest to raid. Quest items dont normally drop in raids unless flagged for that, and the mobs were deep enough into bfd that no 5-man would get it. Its a crazy oversight that would have been caught instantly with one person play testing it. Instead they let people run around for days looking for it while aggrend was trolling on social media.
There’s probably horde side runes that you haven’t figured out yet. Horde also blockade all of their content as well. I’ve seen Horde try to stop people from getting their runes in Alliance territory, which doesn’t really work out since people just team up and zerg the Horde group.
My level 20 Alliance Priest ganked three different level 25 Warriors who were soy and helpless, refusing to fight back and trying to run past. I guess it makes sense in context now. PvE Jimmeis just trying to get a PvE rune but having rolled on a PvP server with their friends.
The amount of ganking in Ratchet is sickening, and that’s supposed to be neutral. I lose all concern for Horde players when Grizzby exists.
The only PVE server is west coast, so lots of people rolled on EST PVP servers so they don’t have higher ping.
Grizzby is a short walk from the dock. Horde does the same thing getting ganked except it’s like 5-10x longer. The hard parts of the grizzby quest (fish oil and dark iron) are in alliance favored zones. If you think this is better for horde you’re delusional.
