I thought I posted this in the Wow Classic Wrath forum, but apparently didn’t. I have had a hard time this morning on my resto druid without my healing addon Heal Bot. It was such an effort and stressful having to click on each individual party members profile pic in group and then click the spell I needed to heal them. How are others managing?
I dont use healbot, I just use macros and the default raid frames
#showtooltip
/cast [@player,mod:alt][@mouseover,help,nodead][@target,help,nodead]Renew
repeat ad nausium
on my druid i do more fancy stuff too to combine buttons like
#showtooltip
/cast [@player,mod:alt][@mouseover,help,nodead]Rejuvenation;[@mouseover,harm,nodead][@target,harm,nodead]Moonfire;[@target,help,nodead]Rejuvenation
I use Luna and Luna is working just fine.
I never used healing add-ons & have spent most of my group play time healing in WoW Classic (& the original game up to MoP before that) - playing all 4 healing classes. I guess it’s just something that you adapt to. I mostly just use hotkey 1-6 for my core bread & butter heal casting (like playing a piano one-handed, lol). It’s easy & second nature to me by now to heal without add-ons or loads of macros. I never used add-ons like questie either, since it is easy enough to quest without it (IMO). Just not a big add-on person in general, though I do use a few.
Only reason I ever used a healing addon was so I could see which players already had incoming heals.
It’s easy to heal witbout them. Just mouse over target, select them, then press the keys bound to healing.
Why is this such a foreign concept?
I’ve never seen anyone else using Luna but it’s the best unit frames add-on. Lots of work to set up but so flexible.
just chainheal a random target and hope for the best
I use Clique and Grid2 for what you are doing, simply because I like really clear indicators on my hots falling off so I show them turn red a few seconds before they fall off so I can put people in a “queue” in my mind as I am healing if I am rolling hots… which is not a thing anymore really in Wrath outside of niche situations where you find yourself tank healing and even then you let lifebloom fall off after three stacks.
So Clique basically just creates the mouseover macro for you. I am lazy so I cannot game without it or if I do I get really grumpy for the 30 minutes it takes to create mouseover macros for all my abilities. I am considering just using the in game raidframes going forward, since those glitch less often and the value of using them diminishes in wrath, at least for me.
I’ve never used healing addons. My heals have always been keybound and that is all muscle memory now. In Classic Vanilla a guildmate set me up with mouseover macros with my keybinds and I found that made a world of difference.
I used to use decursive back in Vanilla Retail, but it broke at some point, so I had to learn to decurse without it. I did that and to this day, I have keybinds for that as well.
No matter what toon I play, I always set up the heals for those same keys. But when I’m playing a non-healing toon, I’ve been known to pound the key for a heal, that I’ll never get.
Same save I do not use macros either. In my how ever many years WoW has been out I have never been able to figure out how to make a macro.
If Clique didn’t exist I would make gratuitous use of @mouseover and @focus macros. I still use them, just not as extensively. I’d probably be a lot better at writing macros if I wasn’t relying on addons, too.
Just make mouseover macros for each druid heal spell. It makes it so, so easy.
My healbot is working just fine? I’m confused how is yours not working?
