I’m just coming back to wow and was wondering how fire is doing this expansion. I’ve tried frost and I’m not really feeling it. Have yet to try arcane.
You can play any spec you want and succeed unless you are doing keys above 10’s and raids above heroic. Thats the only time you should care about performance. Over time, skill and gear meet together and will carry you the rest of the way.
Anecdotally, I did fire in the raid on heroic and in a +5 last night and it was just fine.
There are moments when you dont have combustion or shifting power to get combustion back (sunfury) and its akward.
Frost fire is fun and has more survivability and snares, but the damage isnt as good.
Mileage may vary. glhf.
Fire is good in all content
Thanks for the reply. How easy is fire mage to play?
Its easy enough but spammy. Simulationcraft . org has it listed as 80 actions per minute, which makes it one of the highest spammy classes in the game.
It doesnt feel like it when you have it down to muscle memory in my opinion though. Similar to fury warrior but ranged. Almost everything is instant cast.
Knowledge from when to combustion or not and how to get combustion back quickly is the biggest learning curve really.
Aka carpel tunnel simulator.
no it isnt, why are you lying lol. Fire does at least 200k DPS less than arcane and frost in both raids and +9 keys.
The basic concepts are easy enough to grasp, but some of the more niche parts will take some practice. Overall I think Arcane is easier to learn from scratch, has higher output in raids and easier to understand cleave. But I still persist as Fire; I’d suggest spending a couple hours trying specs on a dummy and see what feels best (unless it’s Frostfire, because they’re pretty far behind =\ ).
Fire mage is ahead of arcane in both mythic raid and high keys. The logs were just posted. Fire has always scaled well with gear, something people forget every expansion. Fact The latest ptr mage changes they slightly nerf Flamestrike. And buff living bomb and lit fuse
Fire mage is ahead in Mythic raid but that is a very small amount of player base since mage parsing numbers are still way behind arcane. I checked the logs of the top fire mages logs, they usually have 2-3 PIs given to them.
as for high keys, Frost is the only one doing average +13 keys while Fire is stuck in +11.
Fact: it doesnt matter how much Lit fuse gets buffed even at 100% if we cant have a consistent proc, unless you give up your single target talents so its pointless.
I mean ive looked at your logs and you dont even play fire yourself, if you want more creditibility maybe you should start playing fire and parse purples.
It’s important to keep in mind that because of Fire’s state at the start of the season there are a lot fewer Fire Mages (almost 10% of the number playing Arcane). The results of overall and 90+ percentile are fairly skewed. It’s better to say Fire can be better than Arcane with immaculate gameplay, scenarios, and externals.
People are jumping to fire mage because of its scaling and more people are going to jump to fire mage seeing how it’s starting to be on par with arcane. I’m already seeing more of them around when you saw 0 at start. Not to mention it’s only going to get better. Ppl are now less worried about straight Ilvl and more on BIS items and stats. Fire mage is going to continue to scale with high haste and mastery not to mention mobs living longer.
and why arent you playing fire then? because you feel thats underperforming too right?
200k is not even enough to call it bad.
Fire, frost and arcane are all fine in all content (obviously not low low keys since everything die too fast for anyone).
I’ve actually been brushing up on my fire rotation. I don’t like fire because I hate how Flamestrike needs to be placed (which is the best aoe build right now). It’s clunky to me to try and love around but keep my cursor under the enemies to make sure I’m hitting them. That’s the only reason that fire deters me. If they make Flamestrike on target I will 100% move to fire without question.
Where do you get this data from? I’d like to have a look myself.
Fire wouldn’t be at the top of mythic raid and mythic + if it wasn’t doing good. These players wouldn’t even be playing it if it was bad.
I felt like fire was getting stronger, but the last few days I have felt my guy getting weaker. Hes not hitting quite as hard for some reason. I crank my CDS and start my burst and I feel like some fights a re a struggle. That rare mob with 8000k life seems to take longer to kill than he did a week ago.
Well if you’re talking about mythic +. It’s the affix this week, mobs are living longer
I like frost fire (Fire) spec. I decided to test it out in a t8 delve just for fun and the spec just wrecked the place. I killed things faster than I did while playing frost or arcane. While under combustion frost fire just destroys everything. What is nice, frost fire is getting a buff next month.
Some people have said it is doing really high damage in mythic content and outperforming Arcane and frost.
