How are Affliction Warlocks?

Looking to make a new warlock and I’d want to go affliction. Are they doing okay in mythic+ and raids? I’m not looking to push really high keys maybe +15 at the most and only heroic raids.

One of the worst m+ and one of the best for raids

Loved it in Legion but I won’t even bother with it in BfA. If you don’t care about wanting the spec to play a certain way though, you’ll be fine with it.

I’m not a big fan of the UA staking mechanic, but my main lock has been affliction since Classic and I still enjoy it.

Best succinct summary by Tzhen.

For the content you’ve mentioned though, you’ll be fine. Go for it.

Our co-lead Aff lock pulls crazy numbers.
My advice would be to also master Destruction too as it’s a nice PvP class.

Ok in raids. Terrible in M+.

For heroic and +15, all specs are more than viable though. Just don’t be surprised if your AoE is blown out of the water. Where you can shine is on boss damage in M+.

Affliction is A tier for raids. F tier in m+ and PvP. It used to be S tier in raid for dazar alor and CoS, but it fallen off slightly in TEP.

Destruction is also around A-B current tier raid, absolute S tier all manners of PvP, and B or C ish in M+. So if you play affliction, it’s highly recommend to learn, and gear a destruction set. Alot of the stuff. Essence and such overlaps. And allow you to be more useful everywhere.

Long time Warlock player. Absolutely agree with others assessments.

If you’re looking to play a Warlock, raids are where you’re going to shine. We’re consistently incredibly powerful and desirable in raids. Nyalotha looks no different in this regard, with many chances for us to cleave, and Warlocks typically scaling EXTREMELY well into later tiers.

Our damage typically takes a long time to ramp up compared to other classes, so it makes us incredibly weak in M+. Demonology isn’t nearly as bad as Affliction or Destruction in this regard, but it lacks an interrupt which can be a dealbreaker for many groups.

I used to really like them. Not so much any more. I don’t play my lock often enough to pinpoint exactly what it is I find lacking, but I just am not crazy about them.

That said, I am not too crazy about the other two specs either.
