How (and why) i quit my guild to get a job

I still remember the first time I mowed the lawn. My Dad gave me one of those manual mowers that came in the box back in the day. I was instantly fulfilled. I went down the next day to my local hardware store and bought sheers, and i still have that original pair on the shelf next to me as I write this.

Fast forward to 14 years later and I still mow almost every other day. I have a moderately successful Raid Team and Im the leader of it. I live with my Guild Leader who fully supports my hobby of working for a living.

When the new John Deere mower was announced I was ecstatic, I couldn’t believe it. Finally I could relive my glory days of my youth, but with only 1 problem, I wouldn’t be able to mow as much due to my Guild Responsibilities. I never really gave it much thought as that is part of being a responsible Raid Leader.

But I started to think. What if I did something about it? What if I made a change for me to do something I wanted? What if I planned and budgeted GCP to allow myself to quit my Guild for the rest of the year to start a mowing business? Could I do it?

Over the next few months I worked out a system, started grinding hard and came up with a plan to present to my Guild Leader. She was not happy that I wanted to quit the Guild to work a job and make money for the rest of the year. She did not understand. So I lied and said that I’m also doing it to practice Herbalism which will give me better grinding opportunities, and she was finally on board. I now had a plan, a budget and the support from my Guild Leader to take the rest of the year off Guild.

In 1 week I finish my Mythics and have a week to prepare for starting my mowing business. Once it is the start of next year I will rejoin the Guild and continue my Raid progression. But for now all I have is time to work hard, sweat and mow yards all day to my hearts content.

Just because I have a passion for lawn care doesn’t mean I’m going to mow that lawn for free.

Man I drive a 3520. Mow about 40 acres on the side of an active volcano. I don’t do it for free either.

Clearly your partner will leave you before the year is up. I mean working a real job is one thing, but lying about it? I feel for you…

This is awesome though, thanks for posting it :rofl:

Priorities some people get em right .

Its beautiful stories like this that really make you appreciate the people of this community.

@OP I like you.

Jobs pay bills. Guilds do not. Even if you sell gold, it’s pennies on the dollar vs any kind of real job. Priorities.

Ok, Ok, This might sound crazy, but im just going to throw it out there.
You can have a JOB, and RAID as well… Right?
