I still remember the first time I mowed the lawn. My Dad gave me one of those manual mowers that came in the box back in the day. I was instantly fulfilled. I went down the next day to my local hardware store and bought sheers, and i still have that original pair on the shelf next to me as I write this.
Fast forward to 14 years later and I still mow almost every other day. I have a moderately successful Raid Team and Im the leader of it. I live with my Guild Leader who fully supports my hobby of working for a living.
When the new John Deere mower was announced I was ecstatic, I couldn’t believe it. Finally I could relive my glory days of my youth, but with only 1 problem, I wouldn’t be able to mow as much due to my Guild Responsibilities. I never really gave it much thought as that is part of being a responsible Raid Leader.
But I started to think. What if I did something about it? What if I made a change for me to do something I wanted? What if I planned and budgeted GCP to allow myself to quit my Guild for the rest of the year to start a mowing business? Could I do it?
Over the next few months I worked out a system, started grinding hard and came up with a plan to present to my Guild Leader. She was not happy that I wanted to quit the Guild to work a job and make money for the rest of the year. She did not understand. So I lied and said that I’m also doing it to practice Herbalism which will give me better grinding opportunities, and she was finally on board. I now had a plan, a budget and the support from my Guild Leader to take the rest of the year off Guild.
In 1 week I finish my Mythics and have a week to prepare for starting my mowing business. Once it is the start of next year I will rejoin the Guild and continue my Raid progression. But for now all I have is time to work hard, sweat and mow yards all day to my hearts content.
