How am I supposed to level using Threads of Fate

I feel like I made a big mistake choosing Threads of Fate. I chose necrolord and go to maldraxxus but each mob keeps almost killing me. people say dungeon queue but how am I supposed to do that if my ilvl is too low? its 55, minimum is 80. honestly might just delete my character and level back up to 50 to just choose the story again.

it’s probably a matter of your item level. if you choose threads of fate, mobs in every zone are scaled to your current level to offer more freedom in where you go to do stuff. tackle a couple of the easier bonus objectives that don’t have any elite mobs to get some of the gear they offer and things should start getting easier.

Do you have empty equipment slots? Are you using your spec’s abilities appropriately?

I’d say to just do quests/etc. I don’t think it’s worth the time to remake a character all over again.

Threads of fate leaves a ton of side quests with more than enough experience to get your to 60.

If it helps any my strategy for this character through threads of fate was Bastion side quests (helping the aspirants, then all the zone WoD like quests) then I went Ardenwield then I did a bit if dungeons. Don’t think I touched Necrolord but I did find it a harder zone too.

(5 characters at 60, have done campaign twice and rests threads of fate or a mix).

ive died like 5x in 30 minutes. and I cant do dungeon cause item level.

Do w/e you want. It has freedom of doing world quests, dungeons, side stories, and the bonus objectives. It’s not meant to be linear like the main story.

What class and spec are you playing? Can you give me a quick rundown of what abilities you use when you pull mobs? How many mobs are you pulling at once? Do you have your interrupt on your bars?

Best way to do it- go to each zone, the threads fate percentage bar fir that zone will pop. Do the easy world quests, pet battles, non mega mob wq and the side quests. These are going to grant you to fastest xp and the side quests have green gear to get you started. However if you have a bit of gold, buy some pieces for your ilvl that are upgrades. Its worth it for survivability and you really only need about 4 to 5 pieces. Do the beasts of bastion. Wait for someone to help you, there are always people farming it for weeks. It drops 4 weapon types. Dagger, mace, glove and I believe a are plus anima. I found the easiest zone to start in is actually bastion followed by ardenweald. Ive leveled 5 toons through threads and that is how I do it. My leatherworker makes scrub gear so I can start out with some stamina. 2 gathering professions also give mega xp. Mining and herbs. You can always switch to a crafting one once you hit 60.

Odd I leveled a rogue and DK using Fates without any issue and by this weekend I should be doing it on a paladin I have been working upon.

arms, overpower/ms

I have used threads on all of my alts. I would leapfrog between them to make use of rested experience. I focused on anything that rewarded additional experience or anima then would usually log off and go to another/main toon. I ended up with a sizeable stockpile of anima “tokens” when it came time to officially sign on to a covenant. It made upgrading the armor you get from the storyline totally seamless.

I refuse to believe its faster than choosing the story though.

Based on what you’ve described it definitely sounds like your ilvl could be giving you trouble. I’ve struggled bringing fresh 50s through Threads of Fate until I acquire gear. It’s not an elegant (or always cheap) solution, but I highly recommend getting a bunch of the ilvl 87-100 (level 50) crafted gear if you can afford it.

Also anecdotal, but I know I struggled leveling an undergeared Arms warrior. Fury went much smoother after I changed.

Yeah might switch to Fury cause its such a snorefest spec that has unending healing. I definitely think its ilvl. mobs are hitting me for a lot it feels like that Im constantly spamming all my defensives just to survive.

I don’t understand how you’re dying I entered as a 50 ilvl and did fine. Are you going to 60 only areas by any chance?

Go to the AH and buyout green items to boost your ilvl but if anything it’ll make you weaker with how scaling and gearing works, but at least you’ll do dungeons.

Can relate here. My cute little gnome mage got slaughtered early on. Those big nasties kept kicking her into other bad guys and getting her killed!

mobs are hitting me for a lot. stop promoting tof on the forums to level through. its way worse than the story.

buy a shield on the AH, spec tank, insta-queue all the way to 60. it’s fast.

Buy level 50-55 greens from shadowlands on the auction house
