Well, over 15 years the spec has gone through some changes and it assumes that Ion PvPs at all in earnest.
He’s the director of the game, not the PvP guy who the player base screamed out of the position.

I would imagine that the Director of the game is far more involved in the logistics and direction of putting out a massive game that is created by hundreds of individuals all working on different aspects of what makes that game possible.
In other words, I think you’re oversimplifying what Ion’s job is if you’re not entirely ignorant to the massive undertaking his job probably entails.

I disagree. I like Ion. Wall paste is good too, but is terrible at answering questions on account of that whole being an inanimate object thing.

Yes, but that doesn’t mean he needs to play every aspect of the game and to the level that some players would demand to even be considered “legitimate”.
He is a director. Directors delegate tasks. His job is to make sure it all comes together within a timetable so that it can be made available to customers.
He isn’t going to be all up in the minutiae of PvP balance for a single spec. That is someone else’s job. A position that sits empty I believe since the player base didn’t like the last person who sat in the chair.
