They’re all terrible.
When is blizz going to figure it out?
They have a cheap solution in their pocket. Give us classic rules & gameplay with retail infrastructure. Done.
But, can’t rerelease the old content + work that was done a decade ago like that. They’d need to build something new.
It’s not that “the solution doesn’t exist” - it’s that the budget to build it isn’t authorized.
the sad part is that you are completely right lol.

You get bought out by Microsoft. Here’s a wild idea, use their cloud computing service to expand server capacity. Ouff who would have thought there is a solution to your problem.

That’s a cool idea and all but - unfortunately - the Furries who work at Blizz don’t have the capability to do any scalable computing.
Becuase according to them the technology doesn’t exist.
I was so excited for WOTLK that i even subbed for 6 months without even thinking about the que times. When i tried logging in i was hit with a 17k que 711min timer lol RIP. Im debating calling my bank and disputing the payment and just getting a refund as i sit in a 245min que time from. Almost able to play the Game! I logged in at 1pm and it is 7:31pm right now and i still have 4h to wait before i get to play this Game. Typing this actually makes me really consider getting my money back
So I have been in que since 3:30 PM with 11k people ahead of me, it is currently 9:15 PM, still have 1700 people ahead of me on Grobb, yet my bestie who started in que at 7:30 PM, has been on for an hour already, and I am still sitting here in que with nearly 1.5 hrs left to go. HOW is that even fair/possible? I can deal with 2-3 hour ques, it sucks, but I could deal. But 6 hours and still not even remotely close? Come on Blizzard. I get that people want that classic community experience by not having cross realm, but the classic experience doesn’t include waiting in que just to play a game for 7 hours (even back in the day I remember having a 2 hour wait time first 2-3 days of launch and then the ques stopped, but nothing even close to this). The ques (as much as I would love to not have it cross realm on classic atm) are making me lean towards advocating for cross realm just so I can play whenever I want. Yes, the que will sort its self out in a couple weeks or so, but why should people wait that long to be able to reliably play a game we pay a monthly sub for?
The absolute thing that drives me mad is that I can’t even play retail while I am waiting in que because its all on the same account. So these issues are not just limited to classic gameplay, but retail as well. I know a lot of classic players probably don’t play retail anymore, but the fact still stands: those of us that play both, but are at the point where we want to put more time into classic can’t even pass the time playing on retail while we wait. By the time I am able to log into the server, I will get maybe 1 hour, 1.5 hours at the most to play before I have to go to bed because I have work in the morning.
Blizzard should have seen these problems coming MONTHS ago. Don’t know why they waited a month before launch to try and convince excessively high pop servers to just transfer to dead servers, knowing that people obviously are not going to want to do that, especially with no chance at being able to come back. Unfortunately I am the dumb one for still staying on Grobb that has been my home now for nearly 8 months or so and dealing with the ridiculous que times comes at a cost of staying. Guess that is my choice, but doesn’t mean I have to like it. Its stupid blizzard hasn’t managed to figure out a work around in this day and age with the technology that is available.
