Im pretty quiet about stuff but I gotta get some stuff off my chest, Windwalker has been feeling very lack luster in M+ and Brew I feel is completely unplayable, there are a few things I would like to see given back to WW like mark of the crane, Serenity would be fun to use again, Expel harm was always great as an active not a passive, same with chi wave/chi burst, as for brew they are needing a lot more love just with everything talents, damage, survivability, threat
I donât know man.
I donât know what content you are actually doing. But windwalker feels pretty good at the moment.
Brew on the other hand seems like it needs some work but when I play and group with other brew masters they do well.
Windwalker doesnât need to go back to adding more buttons to press, thereâs more than should be already.
The loss of Mark of the Crane really isnât as impactful as people make it seem since it was kept up passively most of the time. Windwalker could just use a smidge more damage in M+, but itâs still more than fine as it is.
True, but its removal means we lost potential to giga scale should it ever have gone back to Legion levels of scaling. And now we lean on DoCJ, Slicing Winds, and whatever happens to be juicing up FoF as opposed to just having a robust, unflappable, efficient base AoE kit.
It was never going to go back to Legion-levels of scaling, thatâs beyond wishful thinking. The general discourse at the time was that people didnât like having to manage it on so many targets and having everything dominated by one ability.
Perhaps, but I find it leagues more preferrable to what we have now, RNG, Blizzâs âgoodâ ideas, and whatever they happen to feel is balanced at the moment. At least with Legion scaling, our effort in managing stacks was rewarded. It synergized well with SEF. It got stuff done.
Iâd like brew monk to have its target cap removed and for mw to get a party wide damage reduction external like other healers and for monk to get a crit party buff or 5% avoidance party buff (kind of like our old aura but just party wide.)
I also would like chi wave to be cooler and a lot of different things actually but those are the main ones I can think of. Does chi blast really need a cast time? I figure song of chiji having a cast time is for counterplay in pvp but why does chi blast have a cast time feels antiquated. I like chi wave but it contributes so little of like anything. Looked at my log of 17 ML says 1% of damage ~0.3% of healing and 69% of all the healing it did was over heal. Itâs like better than nothing? Conceptually fun talent but kinda weird.
Iâven ever played wind walker monk so i donât have much opinions except that karma is cool.
That opinion will change pretty fast once you start playing WW. Even faster if you know its history.
is it not the one where you have 4 shadowclones running around punching people to death? Do I really need to know more than that? It sounds/looks awesome and itâs menacing to be chased by.
I play Brew 3k alt. I donât play WW, so I canât comment on that spec at all.

PS: I donât run high keys (14âs and upwards). Only 12âs pretty much.
Here is my todayâs Cinderbrew12 key - as you can see the amount of external healing I required was rather minimal. Only 650m out of 2.3B (which is actually insanely low lmao its crazy)

What are your questions regarding brew?
This season they feel really good at this level. Again, canât comment about tanking 14âs and up. But in 12âs I can probably run all dungeons without healer, as Brews self sustain feels extremely good. Importnat to note Iâm 33% versatility as well.
The only changes Iâd make going into S3:
- Increased keg smash radius
- Keep 4piece proc
- Increased charred passions damage in combination with SCK
I see you have tanked some 8âs on this character.
Are you having issues staying alive? Threat? Getting folded over? Iâll happily give you some pointers.
Thatâs storm, earth, and fire. Karma is basically the WW monk version of shield of vengeance and they cry that its bad because it used to be 100% health absorb with 100% redirect 15 years ago instead of 50%/70% now.
Nah thatâs Storm Earth and Fire. Karma is like using a screen door or barbed wire to patch a hole on a submarine.
Please no. Just buff wwâs aoe the spec feels great right now.
If anything just remove slicing winds as a spell and let it be a talent that buffs chi burst. And give it a 30s cooldown.
Make all our aoe sqrt scale after 8 targets not 5.
Give us overwhelming force. So RSK and BoK are good in aoe.
Not to hijack the thread but I love brew gameplay and visual but every time i run it in m+ the threat issues drive me insane. I dont have the problem on my guardian or prot pally. However, since brew is obviously still playable to 3k and above it is clearly an issue with how Iâm doing things. How do you handle it? (A brief look in the discord tells me Iâm not the only one so it is a problem but itâs overcome somehow I just need to do better and figure it out.) Lol
It was definitely worse last season. At least in S2, Blizzard has buffed threat multipliers across the board for all tanks.
I will just write a few things. You may know some of these already, or perhaps some may eve disagree with me on these, but it works for me.
Here is my Brew.

Here you can find my build/gear/stats:

- Blackout Kick has 4s cd - this is your #1 priority.
- BoK combo - I mostly use it on Tiger Palm for more damage, but in larger pulls I use it a lot on Keg Smash to get extra CDR on brews,
- During Boss busters I do Purifying â BoK â> Celestial Brew (extra big bubble)
- Versa+crit your main secondaries
- Exploding Keg (45s cd) is HUGE for threat.
- On pull - Keg Smash - BoK - Breath - half a cast of Spin to win -BoK â keg smash - Weapons of Order - free keg smash (it gives 1 charge) BoK. etc.
- You rarely spin to win (SCK) I use it as a filler on larger pulls and when I have to move.
- Maintain charred passions (passive fire damage buff) by using Breath of Fire, whcih resets with every keg smash for me.
You basically weave in BoK every 3rd attack. Most of your BoK combos should be spent on tiger palms, but when it calls for it, use it on others - everythign else is defensive purposes, especially on larger pulls.
Iâve played with both, Shadopan and Harmony hero talents. I ran same dungeon (Flood12) back to back with nearly identical groups, identical route and pulls. My overall damage and self healing and healerâs healing on me were practically identical.
So Iâm sitkcing with Shadopan for Flurry Fists, as itâs great threat generator it seems.
I picked up my monk after not playing her since Legion. EeeeeeâŚ.yikes. So many dead talents and underwhelming options. There are some good ones, but not a lot. And I hate that transcendence is in the middle of the tree (next to useless in mythic+ as a brewmaster, the range is too short, icon image a monk drops is easy to loose in all the ground clutter)
Ox statue is laughable. Worse then fel barrage for demon hunters.
I just dislike the feel of Slicing Winds. It is so clunky, but we need it for the AoE. Most of the rest of the rotation feels pretty good and fluid. Slicing Winds is like placing a speed bump on a highway as far as how it feels.
Slicing winds feels bad. I like the simplicity of shado pan even tho the aoe is weak without a crackling lightning proc. Single target is ok. They just need to open up the aoe cap.
I pulled 3.5mil overall in Motherlode 11, pretty happy about that. It would be nice to clear 4 mil in these dungeons but I feel like weâre in the same place as fury warriors (my main).
Slicing winds could be really cool if it just buffed and modified chi burst.
No joke SEF prolly one of my favorite abilities in the game and I donât even play ww. It just looks really cool or even intimidating.
I hope they donât ever end up hiding those like they hid jadefire/faeline (massive blunder, it looks so cool.) They should absolutely hide consecrate though in pve.
Iâm glad someone else brought this up. Iâve heard people say brew master has a hard time staying alive but Iâve played with many great brew masters and Iâve generally felt like it was the most pleasant time Iâve had with a tank. They never require any healing from me. I see red stagger, I help a little, theyâre fine. Many times Iâm even just over reacting and they didnât need my help.
Thereâs some fights like the last boss of NW where theyâre permanently in red stagger and those are the only ones where you need to watch them. The rest of the time they are indestructible. Most paladins I run into by comparison seem much squishier than last season and donât feel as much like they have a way out of the hole they can fall into after their defensives are spent. Brew monk just kites if it comes to that though and its easy to support them while they kite (unlike, say, a DH.) Love brew monks.
Prot warriors read the same to me. They just need a little bit of healing and then theyâre just good. Some tanks though when they drop low you can top them 5 times a second 1% to 100% and theyâre still not safe. Brew and Prot war itâs more getting them back to full and then theyâre reset and fine again.
