How about making

mounts from past expansions a little easier to get? Not everything 100% drop, but do the chances to get some of them need to be less than 1% drops. Or take 500 kills to obtain? When I don’t feel like doing delves or dungeons, I occasionally try to get a new mount. The odds are rather self-defeating. There are dozens and dozens of mounts I have never seen in game or rarely. Would it be a terrible thing if they were a little more obtainable?

Thanks!

Yes, it would. Rare items are good.

There are so many and alot are nearly unobtainable. If a mount had a 1% chance of dropping it would still be rare.

I am also a fan of rare drops. That’s kind of what makes them special.

I wouldn’t be opposed to raid/dungeon skips though, like we have with some already.

Being able to solo and not spend hours getting to them not already easier?

I’m still a fan of how FF14 handles raid drops with their totem system.

I don’t want to think about how many times I had to kill Sha, Ruhk, or Yogg for their mounts, and frankly, 100+ weeks of killing a raid boss with no loot really is ridiculous. It’s cool seeing RNG roll in your favor, but after at some point, you just can’t wait never to see a raid/dungeon ever again.

I liked the idea of putting rare drops on a vendor.

But every raid boss that drops a rare, drops a token. Collect enough tokens, you buy the mount. Or you get lucky and get the mount first.

The cost would be equivalent to it’s drop chance. So if it’s a 1% drop chance, you need 100 tokens to get the mount. That’s still 100 weeks of running a raid, almost two years. But it also means you might get it sooner, and there’s a finite amount of time to getting the mount.

Honestly I’d up the percentage by 1 for it to drop every 1 to 5 years

That would kind of ruin a key aspect of mount farming. The rarity is what makes it fun. It gives me something chill to do on a friday night. It’s very rarely about wanting to actually use the mount. Like when I set out to farm for Midnight. I got myself set up with snacks and youtube on hand, ready for an evening of running return to kara whilr watching videos. Then the damn thing dropped first try! Yeah cool, I got the mount. But now that’s one less activity I have to do.

It just seems like with the amount of rare mounts out there it would be fun if the chances to get one were a bit more favorable. Also, the idea of a vendor mount, mentioned before, is an interesting idea.

idk it’s kind of annoying to be stuck farming certain bosses for literal years but also if they start handing me the carrots i’ll finally be able to unsubscribe for good and i guess that would suck or something.

what i would not mind are some more skips so i don’t have to slog through however many minutes of irrelevant crap that i’ve seen literally hundreds of times just to get to the mount bosses.

I’ll elaborate. My idea is at least 1 percent a year. Not a huge change. But maybe just maybe. Its enough for someone to get it.

1 percent every 5 years is if people wanna be dramatic about it. So fine. But I’d prefer a 1 year thing because we don’t know how long this games gonna even be around for.

i’d say as long as it’s making some kind of money it’s gonna be around for a long time. might not get full-fledged content updates after a certain point but i doubt they’ll nuke the servers anytime soon.

look at how long EverQuest has been limping around and it barely has any players left at all.

Truuuuuue but you never know these days. I mean look at the recently saved Hi Fi Rish with Tango Gameworks. It was a big award winning hit and sold well. Microsoft didn’t care and Tango was thought dead until a publisher in South Korea acquired the studio.
