Right but I don’t see why your desire to play WoW at 2pm on a Tuesday is enough to merit people working overnight

East coast is going don’t care. if its 8 hours with issues…servers back up by 0800 EST. Make/enjoy a bigger breakfast, do dishes…game on at 0800.
cali say hell no. Our 2400. EST is +3 hours. Servers broke at 0700 pacific…affects east coast at 1000. they rant. central rants too, its 0900…
the 0700 pacific imo is the fairest time. everyone loses game time. everyone gets a bite of the crap sandwich, no favoritism lol. and if server issues happen its a double shift, not a triple. better for the IT staff
See in IT I’ve worked my normal shift…came back hours later to overnight upgrade, no real sleep. had issues…and now I was working 24+ hours no sleep. One’s mind tends to wander more by hour 20 lol. Coffee at some point losses its efficacy.
I’m sure the staff would like to have to work at night instead. I’m sure the people who play in the middle of the night cause that’s when they can, would also be thrilled.

Best setup I have seen is skeleton crew stays on to man the front during work hours. But they get flooded. Customers get unhappy.

rest are on adjusted shift to get rest, and not be OT costs.
Skeleton crew next day is fresh eyes and minds for bughunts. Working swing shifts can suck. they won’t be fresh and eager at 0700 next day.
put them all on upgrade detail, no day shift for business hours. and the whole team is just wiped 0700 next day. adds to bughunt issues I’ve found. Someone needs a fresh set of eyes and a mind lol.

No they wouldn’t. Many people out there prefer working graveyard. My brother is one of them. Less human interaction is ok with him.
I used to work for a gaming company and no grave shift employee ever complained, because they chose it.
It’s feasible for Blizz to do maintenance at night, especially since the server farms are accessible 24/7.
No one would need to incentivize with monetary compensation for this to happen.
The only question I have is… who’s nighttime? The US is not the only country that has night, and there are many people who play on US servers from all over the world. So, this will definitely never happen… for that reason.
Let blizz try it and youll see im right. PLus you gotta increase payroll and blizz aint gonna do that. Theyre not no matter how you feel about it.
There’s no way to validate your argument, because Blizz simply doesn’t care anymore. They haven’t in many many years.

I think it’s funny that you think that Blizz doesn’t already have a graveyard shift. They kinda need to, especially in the cyber security section.

I work for a major ISP and we frequently have to come in to do large maintenance jobs overnight when businesss are closed and most residential customers are asleep.
It’s super common in many lines of work.
Because they work in the day and its a schedule that has been for since wow was. So how about just accept it.
