Has this ever been considered? Maybe as part of the dark moon fair or maybe just as a building somewhere in game. As a permanent thing just like the auction house. Can bet gold in a virtual wow casino?
Nope!
Not going down that rat hole.
The closest we had was the chests in Timeless Isle that you could open with the coins.
In the end it would have to be something like that – some farm-only currency, used to buy cosmetics, that you could foolishly gamble away.

Gambling introduces a lot of legal considerations for a game that is played in so many different jurisdictions across the globe, even just the depiction of gambling regardless of if it involves irl currencies or not
Would need to get legal involved to make sure it doesn’t negatively impact the game at the least.

Star Wars: The old Republic had a planet that was filled with casinos around the main hub and a lot of people both young and old use to have a lot of fun gambling for rewards. I can see however that in some countries it would be viewed negative if you used real money to open a random chest and got crap.

Just a huge city in the desert with casinos and side games.
