If you’re arguing against a gnome allied race because “nobody plays gnomes,” then you’re saying that gnomes shouldn’t get an allied race at all. I am sure there will be more allied races added in the future, including ones for both forsaken and worgen (one of which I obviously have a vested interest in).

If they were to go ahead and add, say, another elf race while effectively skipping over worgen and undead, then maybe we’d have a problem. But that’s not what’s happening, so I’m not sure what your objection here is?

Tell that to the majority of allied races we have so far. I find it laughable when someone says that junkers are “lazy” when their bionics would’ve taken a bit more effort than just painting blood elves blue, giving them new hairstyles, and calling it a day, and the art team actually bothered to give them unique animations separate from classic gnomes.

Junkers are not Gnomeregan gnomes and would not be customizations for the latter, that ship sailed when Blizzard decided that Lightforged, Highmountain, Dark Irons, and Mag’har were worthy of being their own races instead of just barbershop options. They’re a separate model from Gnomeregan gnomes with unique animations that highlight their half-machine nature, it would be easier to just release them as their own race instead of retrofitting their cybernetics and hairstyles onto the classic gnomes, assuming that’s even possible.

Then you said that they should be a customization option. I explained that it would be easier to release them as their own race instead of doing the extra work to combine them with classic gnomes.
Now you sound like you’re trying to save face because you can’t refute my argument.

The rigging/animations do not suggest they are a reskin champ. A lot more work has been put into mechagnomes.

By interesting you mean … the most human looking races possible? Because if you haven’t been paying attention, the more “Unique” races don’t fair that well in terms of player popularity. Hell, in most metrics, Gnome Player populations are equal to (or even above by some measurements) than Dwarf Players. So, should Dwarves have not gotten Dark Irons? Should we have another 6 color pallets of elves (and various builds of humans; with the occasional Draenei bone thrown their way)?

While I doubt many will outright admit it when you put it that way, I would bet you gold that is EXACTLY what they want. This would lead to the absurd situation where a Gnome player asks for a their second pallet set and all 10 pallet style elves going “STOP BEING SO SELFISH. WE NEED ANOTHER 15 PALLETS!!! ELVES ARE MORE POPULAR SO WE SHOULD GET ALL THE OPTIONS!”
