Anyone who has ran some m0, how’s VDH feeling? Tanky? Healer reliant?
Main is VDH again this season.
currently, feeling okay with the same general problems I was expecting this early in a new expansion. Gap in Spikes due to haste. The loss of 2x sigils still hurts, particularly against dangerous packs (example in Tirana Sithe maze mobs). Definitely have to plan sigils and not press them on cooldown. Feels awkward as hell, but the cooldown is just too long between one semi-dangerous pack to actual-dangerous pack.
Aldrachi build, and yes is IT much more defensive. That glaive buff comes up and it’s kinda feels like a clunky godsend. Yes I’m happy I get the buff, still feels awkward to press (might be a personal preference).
I’ve been running mostly FelScarred for the extra damage. And planning to try out the new changes to +8 delves today with AR. From word of mouth, survive is the name of the game.
I’ve only done a few so far but felt very safe, only pulling 1-2 packs at a time. Been soloing delves as well and loving the spec so far, think we’re in a good spot
Vengeance feels great except for the self sustain, which caught a significant nerf.
With a healer who has even a little bit of skill you can triple or quad pull most m0s.
Are you using Veng in Delves?
Running Veng in delves is cake, especially with Brann set as a healer.
Nice. I was running some 8s as Havoc with Brann as a healer at about 579ilvl and it wasn’t too bad. Surprisingly easier than my fury warrior. For whatever reason, I cannot do them with fury
Why heal bran ? Just make him dps for faster runs.
Use him as healer when under-geared. I’ve cleared 8s at 560s with Brann healing.
How do you feel defensively? Specifically against big boss hits and big pulls?
When looking at this class after playing Brewmaster I’m scratching my head because I have 3+ bars of abilities and major defensive tools. As Veng, I barely can fill two bars and don’t see your standard major def cooldowns.
I just started playing Veng, only running dungeon finder to 76 so far. It’s a lot less to manage which is what I’m looking for and has the speed I like but I feel like there is a lot of talent bloat and I’m concerned about the big boss hits or pulling large pulls. The snap threat feels weak as well.
I can see there are defensive talents in the tree but the majority of guides and information I’ve read don’t recommend many of them.
My goal with this new character is to focus on mythic + with a group of friends that just came back to the game.
What is your experience with big hits (tank busters) and big pulls?
You can look at my Armory page for a more defensive talent build. I’m not insanely good at the game, but I just got KSM for this season. Demon Spikes appropriately, Meta not only gives you big damage but also increases health and armor. Fiery Brand reduces damage done to you by the target by 40% for 12 seconds as well. Additionally, with Iluminated Sigils, you get 12% parry from enemies affected by your sigils. Applying Frailty to targets (couple of ways to do so) gives you 8% healing on all damage you deal to those targets.
Feels kind of bad currently in 9-11 keys. On prot warrior the same pulls feel like nothing. In particular not having enough spikes uptime which is basically required for an even semi dangerous pack this season, let alone big actual dangerous packs like pre-2 boss mists trash.
Used spikes on the last pack and fel devastation? Well you’re either going to wait, or sigil(if it’s up) and jump into the next pack and either immediately die or barely live.
Damage and cooldowns feel mediocre outside of Meta form, where you excel past the other classes(IMO) with your major CD, but everything outside of it feels poor in terms of survivability.
prot warrior is the best tank for M+ at current. the way all the tuning and such is war’s kit of just a pile of dmg reducing buttons is going to be way smoother and more comfy than other tanks set ups. Vengeance at start of pulls is rough because we don’t have any of our things running frailty and and the sigil debuff. it takes a sec for us to get all our mits rolling so the 1st seconds of a pull get exciting.
Vengeance has very few I hit this button and i get a buff where i take less damage. most of it’s mitigation is in the form of giving debuffs to enemies to make them do less damage. it’s an important distinction. you can’t pre-apply those so they are going at pull. So instead of a consistent damage taken curve we have a spike at the front with a (Ideally) steep decline. the big issue you run into with this is it’s possible to just not be able to withstand the initial spike. easpecially with current M+ tuning and gear levels.
Venge is one of the best M+ tanks currently,
in the right hands…
on the right team…
if you want an ez button prot war for sure.
