For those who have ran some m0, how’s brew feeling?
Horrible with the threat. Keg Smash won’t keep the agrro.
The self sustain nerf is really noticeable. Hitting EH went from completely healing me to healing 10% of my hp. CB’s shield is the same, shields for 1 melee attack now.
I made a post about EH and CB.
After running a couple of M0s, I can safely say it still feels underwhelming.
For raids, its fine. But for sustained damage so far it feels lacklustre.
I understand they wanted tanks to have less self-sustain, but after playing Prot Paly and Druid, BrM falls far behind. Even with EH and Vivify, thats less than MAYBE 20% HP.
Maybe with more crit/verse and mastery it will change since those all help with defensivness and selfhealing.
It’s the same, nuanced problem that BrM has had for a long time - the harder content feels better because it feeds the “machine”. We were probably the worst Heroic tanks, we’re probably the second worst M0 tanks, but we should be pretty strong M8 tanks, and we should be VERY competitive M12 tanks.
Damage feels fine. 1mil DPS on decent sized pulls, 600k overall. It feels like one of the better tank damage profiles although I believe we’re all pretty close.
Mitigation also feels fine. I don’t feel like we’re taking too much damage, or more damage than (most) other tanks. Prot Warriors are definitely mitigating more physical, and Guardian druids feel quite tanky too, but we’re doing fine. Comparing my Details from my BrM runs versus my Spriest runs, my BrM is requiring LESS healer attention than most of the tanks I’m running with on Spriest.
Self-sustain is a big problem. Expel Harm is alright with a bunch of orbs, but it’s not what it used to be. I used my “free” Vivifies pretty religiously and they don’t move my HP bar unless they crit. Sucking up a bunch of orbs with Spinning Crane Kick feels trivial. Although I feel like (properly played) Brew is really mitigating a ton of damage, I do feel like our self-sustained is amongst the worst of the tanks. As usual, I find playing with a Rdruid to be the best compositional healer for us. My healthpool feels smoother.
Utility-wise we’re alright. Leg Sweep is extremely strong for Xal’atath orbs and we can dispel ourselves of her other mechanic too. Ring of Peace is consistently useful in most of the current M+ pool of dungeons. And, our 5% melee damage buff finally feels relevant as physical DPS seem very strong right now. Although you can get into the weeds of how much physical damage that DKs and Rets do, Fury is also very meta right now. Odyn’s Fury into Bladestorm is immense and up pretty frequently and their single target is amongst the best in the game currently.
Brew does NOT feel like the best tank of the season. But I think we’re fine. We’re actually probably pretty sleeper, and I think the higher up you go in keys, the stronger proportionally we’re going to feel. I’d give Brew a 7/10 for this Season.
Our 2-set massively increases the damage of Keg Smash. It’s probably the strongest tank 2-set of them all. Be patient.
1mil is possible indeed. I’ve capped at 1.4mil in Stonevault on bigger wing pulls.
It’s hard tho and requires pretty well executed combo.
Of course, not every dungeon has such large size pulls with good LoS and little to no kicks required.
Pretty much using it on cooldown. It’s a necessity. It’s by far my highest “healing” contributor. It’s double of my orb heling or even my bubble taunt trinket.
Now that I went to 595, I feel MUCH tankier than I was. I’m alos 16% versa atm, as I still try to itemize somewhat well, but ilvl takes priority.
Threat now is hella better too. I actually do not lose threat any longer. Only if I try to group, then yeah, ofc. Charred spin + wind can only do so much.
Im very stoked for it ngl. I do, at times, feel like my raw output sucks on smaller packs, especially if I chase around tryina collect stupid non-stop casting mobs in the back when DPS ignores them and they just there and cast…NON STOP…ugh I hate some of these dungeons with stupid web spits ohmygod it makes angry.
From what I’m hearing, Brews are weaker in the lower content indeed, but are supposedly ought to get better in higher keys. So, fingers crossed.
This is huge. The difference between i587 and i593 for me has been massive. Night and day.
I hope we get tankier in higher keys.
While I do feel tankier already, stagger does ramp up like crazy. Honestly, might start using Combo on keg smash just to get extra CDR for purifying brew.
Lack of any decent reliable on demand self healing sucks though.
I tanked Stonevault at 570 earlier (group of friends, they were chill). It felt lackluster and squishy with little stagger, but much better once the stagger bar filled up. I’m told there’s above average magic damage in that dungeon, and it felt bad to take a ton of damage but not get very much stagger.
I think part of it is the hero talents. I tried bear tank recently and the hero talents felt a lot more impactful. While I thoroughly appreciate the new AoEs on our single target skills, and the extra celestial brew charge is chef’s kiss (though the absorb is pitifully small, it feels like <_<), these are all more QoL things, the first of which is something I hope becomes baseline.
Shado-Pan is also terribly passive and pretty much entirely uncontrollable at the moment, too. Harmony feels decent damage wise, but I’m just not healing myself enough to really feel like it has much defensive value…UNIQUE defensive value, that is. Like Mantra of Purity is obv nice, but it’s really just a buff to our purifying brew.
Maybe it’s a gear/scaling thing, but uuurrrrgh it doesn’t feel great.
Should be anyway. BOC on Keg Smash more than 3 targets and Tiger’s Palm on 1-2 targets is generally preferred. At least imo. Getting those 1.1mil damage Tiger’s Palms is insane.
Starts feeling good around i593. I did some Brew on beta around i613 and even +10 keys felt good.
You need gear.
Ive been BOK’ing on fire breath a lot in M0s for that extra 5% DR.
But might start doing it on Keg smash tbh.
Brother, 5sec off brew cooldowns is insane. You can have about an 8sec CD on purifying and a 20-25sec CD on celestial brew not counting our other brews. Granted, the celestial flames + BOC damage reduction is nice. It’s tough to quantify with Brew’s complex mitigation, though. I’ll take the 5sec brews CDR any day.
But I’m a sucker for those 1mil+ tiger’s palms so…
yeah i gotta adjust myself now going into M+.
Honestly, threat is not really an issue at 596 ilvl.
I play with a 99th percentile Arcane sweat lord. I promise, threat is an issue. But people aren’t ripping things off me usually. Just trigger happy DPS blasting while I’m still establishing the pull.
I have a similar Ilvl Brew, ProtWar, BDK and Veng DH.
Prot Warrior/BDK feel so far ahead its not even fair. My warrior can just face tank all the mobs in mists or pull the entire hallways in stonevault… my brew would fall over.
However I have the most fun on my brew, actually can handle packs better on my brew than VDH and dealing with big boss hits is nice on brew.
Gotta make good use of cooldowns and RoP… also building celestial brew can be tricky because its usually on CD when I have big stagger haha.
I have had zero issues with threat on brew in any of the mythics of done… in fact run into more issues on my VDH at pull start if big sigil or fel is down.
all my tanks cleared all M0’s at around ilvl 575 no issues,. pugging
My issue with BDK is the same problem from the beta, at a high enough level you’re liable to get literally one shot. Brew gets stronger as the content gets harder and BDL gets weaker. At +10 you’ll likely start to see what I mean. At M0, yeah it’s ahead.
This heroic into M0 phase is extremely punishing for Brew. We need harder content to spread our wings.
Prot Warrior and Guardian are definitely the tankiest tanks this season.
Brew is inexcusably bad compared to the other tanks, i’ve seen multiple people say it gets better as content gets harder, fact check, it doesn’t. CB will get slightly better, but they still have 0 self healing with EH from the nerf. they only content they are viable in is raid content where you can have a holy paladin baby sit you.
At 600 ilvl it feels like complete garbage. Dmg, heals, and threat all still feel bad.
It’s not an issue.
Warrior/Druid feel miles better. My warrior is 30 ilvls under my Monk and is without a doubt tankier. Both in dungeons and, not a great test but, on the tanking dummies I can live indefinitely on my Warrior but die within a few minutes on my Monk. Edit: I lied, I can live forever on my monk too. That being said, the Warrior is still much tankier.
You can do the content but it feels awful.
